It occurs to me that Terri is in a Hospice. All federally funded health care facilities are regulated by the federal government and they have to meet federally designated patient care standards. Patient abuse and neglect, which would definately include denying patients food and water, would be prohibited. If the hospice is federally funded at all (Medicare, Medicaid) then the I believe the feds could under that authority conduct a Clinton style raid with federal marshals and take her to a place where she can be fed. Liberals couldn't complain since they loved it when Clinton interrupted a court custody case with his kidnapping of Elian at gunpoint.

Our politicians have been going through the motions of legislating to give themselves political cover on this case. I have heard the excuse "We're doing all we can" when I have called my representatives. This is not true. Politicians created this mess with their laws and judicial appointments. If the Bush administration wanted to, they could find some justification for protecting her right not to be ordered to death by a corrupt judiciary and media. If Bush can hold a citizen in prison for over two years without a criminal charge then they can figure out a way to save Terri from being killed by liberal political elites. Opinion polls obviously do not matter to Bush since he is perfectly willing to continue an open borders/non-enforcement of immigration laws policy in defiance of overwhelming public opinion. We shouldn't let them use this excuse. This woman must be saved and it is up to our political leaders to do it.

By law, a hospice may only accept terminally ill clients. Terri is not terminally ill. Laws mean nothing here.
