Wouldn't concentrated sulphuric acid also absorb the remaining water, without mixing with the alcohol?

Yep.
A shot of denatured 99.5% ethanol has a kick.

Could one freeze out the water? Probably wouldn't be cost-effective.

What happened? Did you and your friends still get a hangover?

Nope, I quit after a while, maybe 10 or 15 minuits, a couple of guys were stubborn and one stuck on till like 45 minuits.

Pretty much to absolutley no effect, no buzz, nada, so we drank the old fashioned way.

Thanks for the info.
Like I said previous, it's been awhile since I took chemistry.
Always thought it was made by progressive distallation.

AWOL is a hangover-free way to consume alcohol because of the oxygen in the vapor, which is proven to reduce the feeling of a hangover, according to the product's website.

Though I've never been drunk in my life, I'd expect just plain Everclear to be as "good." Part of the reason for hangovers is toxic congenerics (other alcohols and aldehydes) that are formed by fermentation, in the beverage. It's the purity that does the trick, not the means of ingestion. As for pure oxygen, how much can there be in those little spritzers?

They now sell individual user machines for $299!!!
Much cheaper than the group machine for bars.
I prefer to drink my martinis, but would try out the AWOL.

The user chooses which alcoholic spirit will be used and the alcoholic spirit is loaded into a diffuser capsule in the machine. The oxygen bubbles are then passed through the capsule, absorbing the alcohol, before being inhaled through a tube. The resultant cloudy alcohol vapor is then inhaled from the end of the tube via a device that converts liquid to vapor.

Intoxication, or a high, from alcohol absorbed through the lungs would be much faster and would be less toxic to the body.

I quit after about 10 or 15 minuits, but one of my friends tried for like 45 minuits.

You'd absorb more doing straight shots.

I imagine that would burn a bit.

Yes, but if you take you Jack Daniels with ice like 76834 was suggesting.....

Seriously, I hope nobody sees my post and decides to try it.

Or you could guzzle an entire pint of JD through a beer bong.

Watch the video. WARNING: Site linked may not be safe for work.

You needed product liability a disclaimer.

"Don't try this at home"

Kinda like "Do not use lawn mower to trim bushes"

great for those who want to get drunk but not consume calories.

Not really, just a waste of time.

The ethanol/water azeotrope boils off at 78.15 degrees C.

Little details from taking 2 years of organic chemistry in a 10 week summer cram course.

Several weeks ago a man died from receiving a wine enema, I don't know how much but I believe several bottles.

That should keep them there lawyers busy a while. :)

You say that like its a bad thing!!

My favorite quote from Lionel Hutz, the attorney on the Simpsons, "Can you imagine that, a world without lawyers? (Shudders)". Come to think of it, I shudder when I try to imagine that nightmare!!

How could anyone survive that much alcohol?

Benzene just strips the water without changing the nature of the ethanol. Recall that mixing an acid and an alcohol generally produces an ester. Methyl sulphate would be the expected product in this instance.

Always thought it was made by progressive distallation.

Even the best fractionating column can't beat the azeotropic limit at 95%.
