Pence was against MediPill, against NCLB, and is for the President's proposal for SS personal savings account. He's heads and shoulders over any of the other possible GOP 2008 candidates in my book.

Anyone know where he stands on tax reform?

He is one of the leaders of the coalition that wants to abolish the IRS.

Ok, so he's a legislator. Does he have any executive credentials? Like being Governor, or Mayor of anything?

Legislators don't have a great record of success in running for POTUS. I sure hope that holds up for Hitlery when she tries to storm the walls of the Presidency!!!

Mike Pence is the executive director of the conservative movement. He has more experience fighting against socialism than any candidate that will run.

So very true! I am quite heartened that Pence's name ID continues to rise and I have no doubt that he will one day be one of our finest Presidents ever. There is no Governor with more "real" experience than Pence. Please put me on your Pence list!

Oh! I'm sorry!! When it said all legislation had to go through him, I got confused!!!

Well good... then he's not already a career politician and can be "Mr. Smith goes to Washington!" (that doesn't have a big success record, either)

Pence has been tempted with all the tests of Washington already in his young career. As a Freshman he chaired a subcommittee, the only freshman to do so,he was also placed in leadership as Deputy Whip.Leadership adored him,and he was on his way to becoming a career politician if he wanted it.He did not.He resigned as a whip saying"you cannot serve two masters" He was saying you cannot remain faithful to conservatism and be a part of house leadership.

As you can see by reply #12, I haven't a clue! You'll have to ask some of the other posters on this thread who are offering testimonials to this guy as the next Reagan, or something. I've never heard of the dude before!!!

Guys from Indiana haven't got such a great record for landing in the Whitehouse, either.

My question was in jest - a follow-up to your "Six-" reference.

If ya gotta explain 'em, then they ain't very funny!

I'm sorry! That was funny and it sailed right over my head. I must have a strain of Brit blood in me that seems to cause slowness in catching on to quick witted humor such as yours... especially on a sleepy, rainy morning stuck in CA's Schwarzenegger sponsorship of a whole new governmental boondoggle called the Sierra-Nevada CONservancy!!!

...he said that the government should apply a means test to Medicare drug benefits...

I mean no disrespect, but how about a CONSTITUTIONAL test, Mr. Pence? Where does the Constitution give the federal government the authority to spend taxpayers' $ on prescription drugs? Doesn't the 10th Amendment leave that issue to the states?

I know your intentions are good, & it's great to hear that someone in Congress (other than the very honorable Rep. RON PAUL, of course) is willing to take somewhat of a stand against the vast increases of federal power under President Bush, but we need you & more of your fellow "small" government Republicans in Congress to stand up EARLY & OFTEN. Please don't cave to your Party's leadership the way the GOP Party does to the Dims. Make THEM start shaking in their boots when they see you walking down the hall. Embarrass them on national TV (provided that the MSM will allow you to state your views in the first place) & show the American people how much of a big-government Party the GOP has become.

I can attest that what Gipper08 and those who know Mr. Pence is true; Congressman Pence is one of the finest examples of Christian Stateman left in WaD.C. He not only stands first for God, and family, and country, he is not affraid to speak the truth (see ephesians; love...), even when it puts him at odds with those whom are his 'superiors' (aka White House and House Leaders). Mike Pence has put himself on the line again, and again because He knows it is the right thing to do! I say Mike Pence 08!! Viva la Liberty!!

Pence said he favors borrowing the money to cover the fiscal gap,

So he says he's a conservative, just not a fiscal conservative.

Yeah.....rather than borrowing $, why not DRASTICALLY cut spending?

What would YOU do if you were as deep in debt as Washington, DC is: would you (1) go to your boss & demand a raise (which DC does & FORCES us to pay more in taxes), or (2) eliminate spending where it's not totally necessary to feed your family?

It looks to me like Mr. Pence has the common sense to not do the former, but little desire to do the latter...instead, he'd go to his neighbors & family members to borrow the $ & keep spending as usual, or maybe just a LITTLE less.
