"Doesn't sound like the church discipline I'm familiar with. Did they go to him and point out the error of his ways? Give him an opportunity to repent?"

The BTK killer wasn't even kicked out of his church. This doesn't seem like the Christian thing to do.

I hope someone more knowlegeable on Chruch discipline speaks up. We are bound biblically to hold one another accountable via the Church.

Are we privy to their prior conversations? Much also depends on which denomination of Christian -- many differences between, say, Episcopal and Southern Baptist and Unitarian.

Also, BTK involves a criminal psyche, while this involves a man serving as a judge.

Actually, there are Scriptures that demand thet church cast out frauds, heretics etc. "a man who a heretic after three admonitions cast out" or something like that.

I attend a Reformed Presbyterian Church (conservative denom), and the pastor went ape about how the BTK killer was allowed to stay in his church. The BTK killer shows no sign of salvation and should be removed from the church and handed over to Satan in excommunication.

Greer should be kicked out as well.
