Minor disagreement: Linking the pardons to the election doesn't make sense because the pardon episodes didn't happen until AFTER Gore had lost the election.

Selling pardons to terrorists, contributors, and democrat supporters (in January 2001) couldn't have affected a Nov 2 election.

http://www.theempirejournal.com/02230551_medical_observations_sh.htm Where did all these EEG, CT & MRI come from? I thought only a CT scan was done. ANYONE?

As I understand it, Terri's heartless uncaring jerk of a husband [/sarcasm] had her taken to San Diego after the months of tests and therapy that he supervised, where he had implants put into her skull/brain to see if they would help her to respond to therapy any better. They didn't help, but they did make it impossible to do an MRI (or a PET scan? don't recall) afterward.

Note that the injury occurred on 2/25/1990, and she was diagnosed as being in a persistent vegetative state as early as 6/29/1990, and again by a different doctor on 5/13/1991.

The most recent figure I have heard is that 33 doctors concur with him. Here are affidavits of 17 doctors/medical professionals that might interest you:

The judge refuses to reinsert the tube because it is not likely that the plaintiff will be successful.

But, rather than hand a decision down, he is sitting on the case to "consider" it, effectively keeping an appeal off the table for Terri that might save her life.

As I understand it, that pretty well sums it up!

I'll bet those two thirds of Americans alegedly polled, had a mouth full of bacon, eggs, grits and bisquits and jelly, as they chose to starve Teri to death.

I keep wondering this morning if it wouldn't be possible for a judge to order that Terri be given a chance to swallow small amounts of water and liquid food.

To deprive her of that basic right is worse, in my present thinking, than removing the feeding tube. The possibility that her swallowing ability may have atrophied because of the feeding tube is appalling, and the true crime here.

But, shouldn't she should be given the opportunity to try to survive on her own, no matter how time-consuming? I would think she still has the ability to suck on something...

I think a lot of that noise is coming from those in their early 60's and older, most of whom place great importance on process. See 'The 4th Turning' on the Silent Generation.

That's not a bad idea. Have they ever tried going to court and fighting for her right to be fed normally?

The flaw is that a spouse is the sole determinant of medical care of the other spouse if the other spouse is incapacitated

I think the law was intended that the spouse would be the presumptive decision-maker. Parental rights can be terminated by the state; it's hard to believe spousal rights can't be.

Well, didn't Whittemore, if I understood his ruling correctly, suggest what the Congress did was uncosntitutional? If so, the SCOTUS could review that, couldn't it?

If it wanted to, yes. But they wouldnt hear evidence.

"I'm not a nurse"

I am.

"there were serveral needle marks on Terry's body"

I wasn't denying that he could have given her several doses. Just that he could have given her one large dose that required being treated more than once. I hadn't seen the comment about several needle marks yet.

I respect those who say we should err on the side of life. I don't respect those who say this is all a plot by Michael, Scott, Joan, Felos, Greer, the Florida appellate judges, Whittemore, and coming soon -- keeping in mind the Justices in Washington have already made their opinions known in similar cases -- the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Can you say "culture of death", Mary?

He's obviously not neglected her?

How?

By denying her therapy - of ANY kind?

By refusing to let her teeth be brushed for months?

By refusing simple movement, exercise, feeding, training, conversation, ...?

HE (Micheal) has been torturing her (for revenge , hatred, and murder) for years in that place - WITH the assistance of the hospice.

Based on that arguement, one might argue the same for anyone who resides in a nursing home.

Part of our concern is exactly that people in nursing homes will have 'owners' deciding who deserves to be fed and who doesn't.

I am sorry that you do not see that.

Oh yeah, and polls also said Kerry won the election

No they did not. Virtually all polls at the end had Bush up by two.

He has nothing to worry about.
It is common for our CP kids and has been for the last 20 years.

I love in Oregon too.

Over 480,000.00 of her "therapy" money went to Felos, Micheal's attorney, who used it to get pro-death laws passed in the FL legislature.
