Schiavo: 'Come down, President Bush' By WILLIAM R. LEVESQUE, Times Staff Writer Published March 20, 2005
PINELLAS PARK - Angered by the latest political developments in Washington, Michael Schiavo said Saturday that it isn't just the Florida governor who should visit his wife to learn about the case.
Jeb Bush's brother, President Bush, should visit Terri Schiavo, too, he said.
"Come down, President Bush," Schiavo said in a telephone interview. "Come talk to me. Meet my wife. Talk to my wife and see if you get an answer. Ask her to lift her arm to shake your hand. She won't do it."
She won't, Schiavo said, because she can't.
He made a similar offer to the governor last week, saying lawmakers interferring in his wife's life know nothing about the case. So far, Gov. Bush hasn't responded to the offer.
President Bush has indicated he will sign any federal legislation to keep Terri Schiavo alive.
Weary after an emotional visit with his wife, Schiavo said he is astonished that politicians want to interfere in such a private matter.
"Instead of worrying about my wife, who was granted her wishes by the state courts the past seven years, they should worry about the pedophiles killing young girls," Schiavo said, referring to a local case. "Why doesn't Congress worry about people not having health insurance? Or the budget? Let's talk about all the children who don't have homes."
He said U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who is leading a charge to extend Terri Schiavo's life, is a "little slithering snake" pandering for votes.
"To make comments that Terri would want to live, how do they know?" Schiavo said of the members of Congress who want to keep his wife alive.
"Have they ever met her?" Schiavo said. "What color are her eyes? What's her middle name? What's her favorite color? They don't have any clue who Terri is. They should all be ashamed of themselves."
Schiavo said he was going to stay at his wife's side through the entire ordeal and said he wouldn't back down in his fight to have her wishes carried out.
"Terri died 15 years ago," Schiavo said, referring to the collapse and cardiac arrest that doctors say virtually destroyed her brain. "It's time for her to be with the Lord like she wanted to be." [Last modified March 20, 2005, 01:09:07]
"but we waited 15 years to bury her."
"Terri's supporters have not done a good enough job informing the general public. "
The general media would not give Terri's life the time of day, unless they could use it to advance the public sentiment towards euthenasia.
The info has been out there, but not in the MSM. This latest episode is, at least, getting some wider coverage of her actual condition and the "treatment" she has received.
This subhuman completely turns my stomach. I don't trust his ass as far as I could throw it...with broken arms and fingers.
They're not news. We all know them, but it seems the people in power don't, or don't care.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live Deuteronomy 30:19
I've thought this for a while, but never said it till now. You know what Michael looks like? He looks like one of those cops that gets his identity from wearing a badge, from having power over others because he wears the badge, and abuses that power. I can see him putting a taser to some dad in a Chuck E. Cheese Pizza restaurant
"Oh honey, by the way if I'm ever incapacitated and unable to speak or move, I want you to STARVE ME TO DEATH, mkay? Hey, and feel free to hook up with another woman and have kids with her while your at it."
Indeed . . . yet that IS precisely what we are asked to believe . . . the fiction that this is ALL about what Terri "wants" . . .
>>>"Terri died 15 years ago," Schiavo said . . .
So if Terri dies, how long before the insurance companies sue him for million and a half he collected for HER REHABILITATION??
... neither will Stephen Hawking.
"from having power over others because he wears the badge, and abuses that power"
the only reason that concentration camps and Gulags could ever exist is that there are apparently enough of these petty people who define themselves by the power they hold over other human beings -- and their ability to hurt others, and NO ONE can do anything about it . . .
"but we waited 15 years to bury her."
I wonder if he remembers that she asked for cremation, too?
My thoughts exactly. First he had to set the stage, then invite the audience.
hopefully, justice will prevail for Terri. She is all that matters.
Hey Michael, if she dies I hope there is an autopsy.
Felos just started that on Greta and she did bring up the fiance and two kids.
"Schiavo said he was going to stay at his wife's side through the entire ordeal.."
This concerns me.
Good!! I hate to impose, but, I got no Greta, could you tell me what his response was?
He would demand that her feeding tube be replaced rather than spewing this most pathetic tale of carrying out alleged wishes Terri made when she was only 20 years old.
She wasn't even deemed by law to legally drink alcohol let alone ot have the maturity and insight to make such a statement that I doubt she even had time to consider the ramifications of her words, if she had said them at all.
Which one?
Sorry, I don't remember! Seems like it was the standard canned response they have about honoring Terri's wishes, etc.
