Death of Disruptive Air Passenger Is Probed
From Times Wire Services Prosecutors are investigating the death of a man who was subdued by several fellow airline passengers after he became disruptive on a New York-bound flight from Los Angeles, a spokesman for American Airlines said.
William Lee, 48, was pronounced dead late Friday after he was removed from American Flight 4 at Kennedy International Airport.

Very little else in the article, other than what other wire service articles mentioned. He was subdued after getting belligerent after demanding another beer.
I searched and searched this board, and Google news search. No mention, even though this happened Friday.

Like Air Marshalls on our flights and it took a rugby team to calm him down...kind of funny

This same thing happened about a year ago. The plane was diverted to Salt Lake after a goofy guy started wandering around the flight cabin talking to himself, wouldn't sit back down, and hit a stewardess. Passengers beat him up and tied him down in his seat using belts (like Richard "Muhammed" Reid). The guy was dead when the plane landed and the authorities got to him. Turned out to be a drug overdose (meth).

.......and in this day and age of terrorists and nervous airways flyers this clown makes an ass of himself.
Unfortunately, the people that held this jerk down will probably get sued by some enterprising scumbag lawyer.

The post #5 probably hit the nail on the head. Drugs! When people have drugs / alcohol before flying, the effects double once airborne*. I was told this when some idiot youbng girl fell (passed out) on her way to the Lavatory. Her "boy friend" was real reluctant to admit they were out doing drugs till 3 AM. Hey babe sex, drugs and ... whatever. I can understand them not being married, who would want to marry a druggie and who would want to marry a guy not stand up enough to say what the problem was.
* The Stew was a nurse and she explained what the effects were. If boy friend hadn't given the info, we would have landed and been inconvenienced. If she croaked based on her own stupidity, I could care less.

Ya gotta assume the guy was primed before he got on the plane when he demands, demands, to be served another $5 beer!

Well the guy was a complete moron pulling this kind of act in an airplane in this age of terrorism. I won't go so far as to say he deserved to die but the takedown by the other passengers was definitely warranted. Had I been on the plane, I would have whacked this jerk upside the head with my laptop battery charger.

Yeah, I remember that one. It was a group of passengers who ended up killing some guy - but there was a strange twist at the end and I've forgotten what it was.

Air Marshall's gun was fired in a struggle, passenger subdued by AM and passengers. Bullet struck a battery from a motorized wheel chair. Battery acid leaks onto carpet reacting with cleaning solutions causing toxic gas to flood the cabin and crew compartments. All aboard died, jet continued to fly until it ran out of fuel.
This was a Crossing Jordan episode.

Im not surprised. Someone messes around on a flight im on and i would be more interested in knocking out than subduing.

The twist in CSI was that the passengers dragged the guy (who was still alive) away from the door back into the aisle and then stood on him.
That seems to have precipitated his death, although there were a dozen other things killing the guy.
So, don't drag them away from the door. Kill them in place.
