I think you're right. Here's another nugget I found from a KSTP news article:

Also the Brady crowd was licking their chops on this one until they found out where he got the guns. They said his grandfather was a cop. The gun grabbers maintain that only law enforcement should have them, so they can't beat this drum too heavy.
