On this we agree perfectly.

"You’ve got to use a lot more carrot and a lot less stick"

The perverts you defend would like to use both.

My point is that self-control is what this Republic is dependent upon absent government control.

How can you get people to retrn to self-control when the culture spits on restraint?

"Try it, you'll like it"

"If it feels good, do it"

"Don't judge me"

Absent a people who control themselves there WILL be a government that will control them.

"That means they will support higher taxes for "the children", as long as said children are not personally known to them."

And also that the taxes are not personally directed at them.

Dear Clearsight:

The movie focuses on a news anchor who, on the eve of his retirement, has a meltdown on the air and starts ranting and raving about what's wrong with the world. Since the show caused such a ruckus and had huge ratings, the show's producer (a feminazi before the term was coined) decides to go for the bucks and put him back on the air. He continues to have meltdowns, but she doesn't care, because the ratings are huge.

She then creates a bunch of reality television shows, supplants reporters with soothsayers and other wack jobs, and "Howard Beal," the "Madman of the Airwaves" evening show replaces the news.

The movie's focus is the manipulation of the masses by the media, the silencing of voices of change, the dumbing down of society, and the ills of liberalism.

Fantastic work; funny, shocking, alarming, and thoughtful, without being overly crude. Fast moving dialogue and very involved characters. Don't blink, or you will miss something that stays with you for years.

Funny how these flicks....in hind sight....are eerily similar to what the media/govt have moved into today. We don't really get news, we get packaged releases favoring one thing or condemning another with no idea where they have really come from or who put them together. Will try to post an insightful news article I found this week. If that is even possible in the environment we find ourselves today.

Ok, above is the article I was referring. The Title of the Article is: "Packaged News or Propaganda?" I give you the title just in case this sends you to a general news site and need to search the article out.
