Public law in California does not allow private ownership of beaches from the mean high tide line plus 25 feet (IIRC). The land is owned by the state and not available for sale

We own lakefront property in Ohio, it also is on a private drive which the city provides no services to. We are taxed out to the water line whether we have 10 feet of beach or 10 inchs. We remove people from the beach on a regular basis, if they are just passing though we cant stop them but we can stop them from making use of what is legally ours. Why should we pay for the maintence of the beach when it is everyone else mess, partier have take my steps for firewood, and leave broken bottles around among other goodies. For some reason people think that just because there is a beach that it is for everyones enjoyment.

there is a public beach just down the road they nobody goes to because the city will not maintain access to the water.

If you want the pleasure of having a waterfront home, fork out the money for your own and stay off of mine

You sound like you have good reason to be riled up and are well within your rights. These guys may have some valid gripes, but they don't own the land in question. If they have a trespasser then they get in line with the other folks calling the cops.

In Sea Island, GA, there are no public beaches . There are public accesses to the beaches for the people who live or rent the cottages inland. The people who use these accesses are mindful of the private properties, but can set up tents and even have dinner parties on the beaches.

It's a matter of respect - both ways.
