I think reality smacked them right in the grill.
As the Duke would say (to the French), "Life is hard enough without going through it Lazy AND Stupid."

Consternation gripped the government of President Jacques Chirac. Why can't I stop smiling after reading that sentence?
To: Pikamax
Just do it Froggies. Show some spine. The Chirac faction will probably try to rig the vote. Same as our Donks.

Don't know which outcome I should root for in this laugher. On the one hand, it sure would be funny as heck to see Frenchie vote down the constitution and watch Chirac squirm like the weasel he is. But on the other hand, it would be just as comical to see all those EU countries try to live under a single constitution with all their social/cultural differences.

Having not read the document, I can still speculate - it's fun! The new Consittution probably puts some onus on the party countries for their own defense or a unified European defense. Perhaps the French see the benefit of a US protective umbrella for which they have no financial responsibility.

Hmm, just maybe, these people are waking up to all the great benefits of socialism...
They see the E.U. as a threat to their social economy, they rightly think that companies will locate to central Europe where people actually work and have lower social costs added.
