WASHINGTON -- Congress early today voted to grant a federal court the power to review the case of Terri Schiavo, clearing the way for the brain-damaged Florida woman to have the feeding tube that has kept her alive replaced.
The House, meeting in an extraordinary overnight session that began on Palm Sunday, voted 203 to 58 at about 12:35 a.m. to empower a federal judge to rule on Schiavo's case. The vote followed by several hours a voice vote that approved the bill in the Senate, and President Bush flew back to Washington from his Texas ranch yesterday specifically so he could immediately sign the bill.

A one-page, unsigned memo circulated among Senate Republicans over the weekend characterized it as a ''a great political issue" that has the potential to energize the party's ''pro-life base."How interesting. An signed, untraceable memo, allegedly marching orders to the GOP on how to take political advantage of this case, being touted and flung in the face of everybody this weekend by Democrats and their media accomplices.
So why should anyone doubt the pedigree of this memo?

Stunned me when I heard about it on CSPAN's Washington Journal program on Sunday. The host read the blurb from the ComPost. I found the mention of the memo in the Seattle Times and later the ComPost online edition.

Amazing isn't it that elected members of Congress respond to those who sent them there in the first place.
Wasn't it said by a huge liberal that "all politics are local"???
Hayseed hick Christians are such an embarrassment to the nobles.

The USA Department of Agriculture does have a standard for putting dogs to death, and starving or denying hydration to an animal is not allowed according to law. Why would any one or any court decide that a human being should be subjected to a lower standard than a dumb animal?
What is going to be our standard for putting people to death, if this is what we have started out to do? We have many people in nursing homes and convalscent hospitals that do not know a single thing. We have lots and lots of diabled children. I think we are headed to hell is what I think. This is totally inhumane, and we must cry out now.
We need to get rid of Michael Schiavo, Felos, and Judge Greer and all like them. They are evil.

Well, what of it. If doing the right thing is also good politics, and people know it then so what? The democratic position seems to be - "see the great sacrifice we are making. We have joined the forces of evil which we know is really bad politics, and so you should vote for us anyway. Even the morally bankrupt have a right to political power."
Sheessh. Does Nadler need to grow horns, a forked tail, carry a pitchfork, and walk around with his hair on fire before folks can see the democrats for what they are becoming.

He was Tip O'Neill, Ex- DimRat Speaker of the House from (you guessed it!) Massachussetts.

Yes it was him.
Interesting how that some special interests are more special than others.

Well, what of it.It is my belief that this "memo" is a fabrication, cooked up by Democrat operatives to smear the GOP, while they are trying to do the right thing. You may not mind it if the opposition frames and composes your position, but I do.

Was the memo done on a '70s era IBM Selectric? Maybe we should take another look at this.

You may not mind it if the opposition frames and composes your position, but I do.While in general I would agree with you - you miss the illogic of the democrats. It this case, it matters not the motivation. It is still the right thing to do and the democrats are blind to that. They missed an oportunity to get on the right side of the issue and missed a second opportunity to shut up.

If they can go to all that trouble, a judge can get out of bed long enough to issue the order. So where is it? I smell some smoking heel rubber.

It is my belief that this "memo" is a fabrication, cooked up by Democrat operatives to smear the GOPThat's been my take on it, in light of the posturing as of late by the Democrats, Hillary included, to look more Conservative.
