This wasn't a family member making the decision, it was a bunch of over-educated euthanasia providers in lab coats that wanted to do this. The doctors get to decide, courtesy of a law signed in 1999 by Governor George W. Bush.
That's OK, though. Just get Congress to intervene. They've already greased the skids.
There are plenty of situations like this they can't wait to get in the middle of.

I don't like this at ALL.
The DOCTOR gets to decide whether you live or die?
However, it should not be incumbent on the taxpayer to support a terminally ill person.
This can get really complicated.

No, Sink, the law was passed in 1989, including the provision in question. The 1999 amendments were very minor and have nothing to do with this controversy. I am very familiar with this law. Bush is in the clear on this.
I do think that Bush should draw attention to this and ask the legislature to fix this monstrous law. He could do that very easily, and I bet that he would if he only knew about it.
Guess who the sponsors of this bill were? IIRC, Mike Moncrief (now Fort Worth mayor) in the Senate (Garnett Coleman in the House).
