I will be away for a while...I just now got some bad news about a dear, dear friend..had surgery on his stomach ...
he had complications and he aspirated ( a type of reflux where the stomach acid belched back through the system and out from his nostrils... his stomach acid went back into his lungs and chemically burned his lung tissue effectively SHUTTING DOWN HIS LUNGS !!.....as I type, he's in a medically induced coma in I.C.U. and they have him in one of those undulating beds to prevent sores and had to "induce paralysis" to keep him from moving and complicating the treatments. they say he can hear you but can't respond because it will complicate his recovery... he's on a ventilator which is supplying 40% of his oxygen at present. initially, when the lungs had SHUT DOWN and they didn't give him much hope. ..they're hoping to bring him back out of the coma and paralysis in about 4 - 5 days depending upon how well he can get back to breathing on his own. AGAIN, the "paralysis" ( i.e. Physical Limitations ) are put on him because he is naturally fighting against the invasive attachments ( tubes, etc. ) and it was their best method of preventing him from pulling them all out....
