I've been reading the Bible for the first time during the past year. From the Old Testament on. I'm kind of stuck on the Book of Psalms right now.
Great place to get stuck!
I've been 'stuck' there, too, memorizing them. I'm on Psalm 119, in the Amplified, right now. Lovely. Just lovely.
(I had to come to terms first with the fact that all the power to memorize - and to want to memorize - is from the Holy Spirit. Psalm 119, and in the Amplified version, especially, is a bit daunting in its length, if not its language.)
Keep at it.
Bobby Schindler on Sean's radio program just said Terri is holding her own and doing OK but that could change at any time!!
The psalms are good.
I tend to get stuck in the psalms and in Isaiah and in Matthew myself...
"Is not this the fast that I choose:
to loose the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the thongs of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to break every yoke?
Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover him,
and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
[8] Then shall your light break forth like the dawn,
and your healing shall spring up speedily;
your righteousness shall go before you,
the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer;
you shall cry, and he will say, Here I am.
Isaiah 58:6-9a
O Lord, be with us who are doing the work you ask,
purify our hearts,
teach us to love,
sustain our sister Terri
and bring us all at home at last to be with you,
Amen.
