Does anyone remember Sunny Von Bulow who was put in a coma by an overdose of insulin by her then husband Claus Von Bulow?
Sunny is still alive 25 years later in a hospital in New York City in a deep coma or PVS and will never come out of it. Her children have been paying for her care for all of these years and I am sure she has a feeding to help keep her alive. Yet I haven't heard anyone saying that Sunny Von Bulow should have her tube pulled and die.
Yet the majority of people in these polls feel Terri Schiavo should die. Now why is that?
Now I watched the O'Reilly Factor tonight, the first few minutes during the Talking Points segment.
Now according to O'Reilly only doctors should be be allowed to make the determination of whether a person in PVS should live or die. In fact if I got the drift of his argument if the Doctors feel there is no hope then anyone on a feeding tube, respirator, etc. should have the plug pulled and die regardless of what the family wants.
I was actually surprised at O'Reilly's point of view since he claims to be a devout Catholic and says life is precious to him.
This is the real slippery slope we are on with the State and Doctors making the call of who lives and dies if they are in a coma or PVS. I don't think the public really understands this.
But even if it's decided to pull the plug and let someone die would anyone really want their loved one to suffer and die from starvation. My God we treat out pets better than that. At least go on and give a lethal injection and get it over with, don't drag it out and make people suffer.
Terri Schiavo may be in a PVS of some sort but how does anyone know that deep down om some primitive level she doesn't have some cognitive sense or ability, the answer is we don't and to condemn this woman to a fate that any prisoner on death row doesn't have is cruel and unusual punishment by any definition.
She should have her shot at life and to be with her family that love her and want to care for her. Her husband can and should walk away from this if he doesn't want to help, but to persist like he has to have her killed raises a lot more questions than we have answers for.
