There's a lot about Michael that is being left out of this article, things like his unsteady employement record prior to his wife's "collapse," the money problems Michael and Terri were having which precipitated an argument over money she spent to have her hair done just before her "collapse," ... this untruthful article is attempting to do the same thing that the recent St. Petersburg Times front page article on MS attempted - to put Michael is a positive light, when he never earned it.

Don't foget the fact that he never once mentioned her supposed desire to "die rather than live like that" until AFTER the $1 million malpractice settlement.

A $1 million over 15 years gives you an average of about $67,000 year, even adding the interest earned on it (5% or less after tax) doesn't seem like it offers the spouse a lot to live on after the costs of taking care of his wife.

[That money should have been put in a trust (or given to a charity to care for her, since they don't pay taxes they could keep the full interest).]

Is there ANY evidence that Michael Schiavo misspent the money? Has he been leeching off his calamity and not working?

If he hasn't exploited his wife's illness for financial gain, then it would have been easier for him just to have divorced her and gone on with his life, if all he cares about is his own convenience.

From the article you will see that this question was addressed and the answer seems perfectly reasonable to me.

The Schindlers - who did not respond to a request for an interview made through their lawyer - have been distrustful of his motives partly because, they have said, no one mentioned Terri's wishes until years after her collapse. But, Scott said, "it's not something you think about while Mike's trying to save her life... . It's something that people do when there's nothing left to do."

As Cyndi Lauper put it, "Money Changes Everything."
