The majority of the public wants to see her killed. Well my values are not subject to a popularity poll. Doing the right thing ought NEVER to be dependent on what people feel about it at a given time. In history, majorities backed slavery and American apartheid and that didn't make it right. Its completely irrelevant if a majority now thinks Terri Schiavo should die. Republicans are going with this out of strong convictions not because of the politics here. If they went with the politics, they wouldn't even be bringing up this bill. Which is what the Democrats would prefer.

There are many, many people who have given the order to pull the plug on a loved one. I suspect Terri's case troubles them, because they want like hell to believe they did the right thing, and not for selfish reasons.
