We're all one HUMAN family. The ancestor of my people, Abraham, was hospitable to strangers. We need to care for others - not on grounds of blood or tribal loyalty - but because God wants us to do the right thing. That's where the Torah broke with the past. In many parts of the world today, people have an obligation only to those of their blood or tribe. And that my friend, is wrong. Our interest in Terri's fate isn't that we're related to her biologically but because she's part of the human family and needs our protection. That's all there is to it.
