have you tried "safe mode", then reset your display properties.
f8 while restarting put me into safe mode.
I was able to make the changes that got my color and desktop back in shape ... but ... now, my start-up page (FR) is a reduced size that needs to be maximized. It used to come in already maximized, but now I have to figure that one out.
Now that I have apply buttons, it shouldn't be too awfully bad ....
... or could it?
