Has anyone seen the text of the bill? Some stories today said the compromise was to make sure it only applied to Terri and no one else (how do you spell "Bill of Attainder"?). It would be nice to know how they kept from invalidating my durable power of attorney which is designed, like millions of others, to keep me from being force fed and diapered for years as poor Terri has been -- and apparently will be for years to come. How tragic for her.
RE. "bill of attainder", here is a clarifying post by "tort_feasor":

I'm a lawyer and my first thought was that it was a bill of attainder. However, I lookd up the history and a key element is missing. A bill of attainder seeks to punish a single person without trial. Here there is no punishment therefore it should pass constitutional muster. Some examples of bills for single persons. Chrysler Bail out, Bills making individuals citizens, Gold Medals for Schwartzkopf at end of Gulf War.

And here is a link to excerpts of the bill -- it does indeed only apply to Terri:

How can an ex-post facto law be considered constitutional? What has happened to the strict constructionist approach to constitutional issues by Republican party???????
PS: What about upholding State's rights?
Civil rights issue? Bogus defense because this law just passed applies to one person only so that comparison can't be made.
