I'll buy houses and a flash car, says yob awarded £567,000
The Daily Telegraph ^ | 20 March, 2005 | Peter Zimonjic

A teenage criminal who received £567,000 in compensation after falling through a roof while trespassing boasted about his wealth yesterday, saying that he was looking forward to buying "a few houses and a flash car".

Carl Murphy, 18, got the payout last week, nine years after being injured in a 40ft fall at a warehouse in Bootle docks, near Liverpool, prompting angry protests from crime victims and politicians.

I can harldy wait for a large group of these idiots hurling themselves through skylights in attempts to emulate this dolt. The good news is that many will take ther potential contribution to the gene pool with them.

From the article:

"I'm going to buy a big house so I have a place to live with me mum when she gets out of jail.

This apple doesn't seem to have fallen far from the tree.

Something tells me this idiot isn't going to put the money into long-term investments at a safe, but moderate yield. Chances are he'll use it to indulge in behavior that will get him killed, or worse. And if not, he'll burn through it in no time flat.

Alas, for England all hope is lost.
Hypothetically, maybe it would have been better in the long run if we let them go it alone in WII and let them lose.

In effect all they've done is commit suicide over the past 60 years by socialism and political correctness. Plus in another 60 years, the 'King' (or Queen) will be speaking Arabic anyway.

Quote from his grandmother:

" "He never finished school because the teachers couldn't control him. He was a nice boy before the accident ..."

Nine-year-old kid injured while apparently preparing to break-and-enter?

I'd be interested in seeing this woman's definition of "hooligan".

< sarcasm> George Bush, probably.< /sarcasm>

This yob is not as rich as he thinks. In the US, his lawyer would get paid out of this, and he would pay taxes on the full amount (even the portion the lawyer gets). I don't know the tax rates in the uk, but I'd be very surprised if he keeps 40% of the loot. The rest he will blow.

We took our legal system from the UK.

I was thinking the same thing. It seems like a lot of money but some stupid yob should be able to waste it all in about two years. After he as wasted his ill-gotten gains he will probably be in the news again for burglary or robbery. He will complain that society "never gave him a chance" and stupid leftists will probably demand that people be required to keep their homes unlocked so that a burglar will not have to break in. I' m hoping, however, that the guy will buy lots of drugs and overdose, saving Britain needless trouble.

Without a doubt he'll soon be broke and in debt. I'm sure he'll find some entity to sue because he was ill prepared to control such a windfall of cash and now his life has been adversely affected due to his poor spending habits. Somebody's gonna pay!

You might be a redneck if:

WELL, I WAS DRUNK THE DAY MY MOM GOT OUT OF PRISON
AND I WENT TO PICK HER UP IN THE RAIN
BUT BEFORE I COULD GET TO THE STATION IN MY PICKUP TRUCK
SHE GOT RUNNED OVER BY A DAMNED OLD TRAIN

He is mistaken about the cost of real estate in the UK. For the equivalent of a million dollars US, he couldn't buy "a few houses and a flash car"--he'd be lucky if he could manage one house after the Inland Revenue taxes are taken out, and wouldn't be able to pay the upkeep or ongoing property taxes on it. But that sort of foolishness is why such people are losers in the first place.

You sound as if these kind of settlements do not happen in the US. This kind of legal action has only become popular in the UK in the last decade. Our lawyers have been taking their ideas from yours. They don't take money up front anymore since new law changes and since then the number of scumbags seeking compensation has skyrocketed.

We will never speak Arabic. Under the Conservatives the following will happen: abortion limits will be reduced, immigration will be curtailed, the EU rejected and gun laws re-examined.
Liberal rot is endemic both in the UK and the US, hopefully both countries will be able to resist it but it is still a possibility in both our countries.
