And please be adults about the language thing, unless you want to see merciless ridicule of figures of speech in your favorite European countries from now on (as I know quite a few and see them every day). This is a serious topic. India is getting more faithfully close and helpful with us on defense each month.

The restraint the hands of our enemies have known has always been the hand of the God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob
and his Son the Lord Jesus Christ..

Our founders and leaders once knew this and honored Him.

When America no longer honors God.. America can expect that hand of restraint to be lifted....and our enemies to gain advantage.

As the ancient Hebrews found this out from time to time..

We mock Him to our own peril...as always

Good point. It may be the last line of defense, but as long as radar can lock onto the incoming cruise missle / threat, NOTHING is getting through a Phalanx barrage.

Check, have the USS Jimmy Carter sink their Sovremenny class missile destroyers first.

Will be the PJ-10 be limited to Indian and Russian forces, or is it going to be exported?

Yes,it will be exported-infact around 10 countries have reportedly evinced interest.Being an Indo-Russian weapon,it will be exported by mutual consent. So India's ties with Israel will probably prevent an export to Iran,China,Libya etc. That doesn't rule out the Persian Gulf sheikdoms though.I think Vietnam,Malaysia & the UAE have expressed solid interest. If Malaysia acquires it,it will be deployed on their soon to be built SU-30MKM fighters, which are based on India's SU-30MKIs.

The Sunburns on China's current Sovremenny class are like cruise missiles mounted on B-47 bombers.Highly potent weapons on rather dated platforms, though the USSR built it with a purpose.Their original Sovremennys have a very poor ASW capability & also has only a rudimentary anti-air capability. So unless the PLA-N uses the weapons in a firststrike,it won't last too long.

PS-Russia will deliver 2 modified Sovremennys,Type-956EM class vessels to China by this year or the next. These will have far more advanced technology than the current 2.They will probably have more efficient engines,EW,vertically launched anti-ship & anti-air missiles.

The US Navy needs its own supersonic/hypersonic anti-ship missiles. The Harpoon is too slow and getting outdated fast.

The Harpoon is still very hard to jam or decoy or even pick up due to it's sea-skimming profile. But you're right,it's getting old.Germany & France did work on a supersonic anti-ship weapon, now designated the Vesta ANF,which should have entered service in the late 90s.Then ofcourse there are the numerous Russian systems.

free-electron lasers on ships will be the answer to these anti-ship cruise missiles.

"With China building more and more intercontinental missiles and nuclear warheads, "by 2015, the number of warheads capable of targeting continental United States will increase several-fold,"

The technology and know-how that made this possible are the paybacks for illegal campaign contibutions to the re-election of one William Jefferson Blythe Clinton!

Hmm, well time to slap more Phalanx systems on our carriers

(From the description of the Sunburn) A nuclear-armed 3M-80E Moskit, however, could easily destroy a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier (and any other nearby ships), even if the warhead detonates at some distance from the carrier.

Phalanx is too short range, and lasers are also against a sea skimmer, as it can detonate behind the wave curve line of sight of the earth and still have the Carrier inside the kill zone. The warhead on the sunburn is 10x the size of Hiroshima.

China is buying first strike weapons, we need to do so also, not ride on 30 year old systems.

Do you forsee stability with Pakistan and India.....can they continue to show each other their new toys with it not coming to their actual use against each other?

at some point..these newer gen weapons have to be used?
resale does not exist at some point if conflicts are not there to attrit them.
or can the world simply keep buying newer and newer weapons systems and never use them?

all this tech transfer which is ramping up just now is likely to hit some critcal mass point.
like the stupid arabs who kept getting blue balls from looking at all those Russian tanks and jets gleeming in the desert sun.
too intoxicating they were.
they could not restrain themselves.....so it happened...and history records what that netted them.

I'm really concerend for India.
they are leaving Pakistan in the dust as nations go.
It would not surpise me that Bejing is more paranoid of India tech prowess than their machinations over Taiwan.

I'm afraid India will be trapped in a proxy war which see's China and Russia exploit the rift between Pakistan/India.

Condi Rice goes to Pakistan and praises the idiots .....days later they launch a theatre nuclear capable ballistic missile.
Messege here?
