total parenteral nutrition ?

I have a friend whose husband became a quad, after diving off a ski boat into 3 ft of water.
It's been tough, but she's stuck with him, and taken care of him. She is quite a person. He's has actually regained some upper body feeling, and some use of his arms. He can type on a keyboard now, and feed himself.
There is always hope. Look at that woman who just woke up out of that coma, after what; 10 years or so?

Yes, that's it. Total parenteral nutrition.

My son was also a diving accident. Happened in 1987 when he was 16.

After a year in the hospital, and many medical complications, we took him home and gave him TPN. Then in 1991, he lost his kidneys.

We used peritoneal dialysis, at home. Hooked him up every night for 12 hours.

Unfortunately, we lost him due to doctor error in 1993. He was 22.
