I would have dropped both the goblins (to make sure they didn't attack me while I was trying to save my wife's life) and then rendered aid.

They probably couldn't have charged you for killing your attackers, as it was obviously self defense, but they still probably would have charged you with illegal posession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm within the city limits.
