I believe in Quinlan's case, the family eventually fought to have her removed from the respirator and prevailed. However, the feeding tube remained, and she didn't die for several more years.

I stand corrected on the facts, my apologies, perhaps I am mixing up my facts with another less high profile case, which is why I qualified with to the best of my recollection which ain't what it used to be, but then that was not euthanasia either
