Frist Threatens Jail for Terri Judge(Shiavo Feeding)
Newsmax ^ | 3/19/05

Posted on 03/19/2005 8:00:19 AM PST by beyond the sea

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Friday that subpoenas issued by Sen. Mike Enzi compelling Terri Schiavo to appear at a March 28 congressional hearing made it a crime to disconnect her feeding tube - and threatened anyone who interfered with her testimony with jail.

In a statement issued by the majority leader's office, Frist said:

"Federal criminal law protects witnesses called before official Congressional committee proceedings from anyone who may obstruct or impede a witness’ attendance or testimony."

"More specifically," said the Senate's top Republican, "the law protects a witness from anyone who - by threats, force, or by any threatening letter or communication - influences, obstructs, or impedes an inquiry or investigation by Congress.

"Anyone who violates this law is subject to criminal fines and imprisonment," Frist said.

His comments appeared to be directed at Florida state judge George Greer, who brazenly defied the Enzi subpoena on Friday and ordered Schiavo's starvation to commence.

Frist's statement echoed comments by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who said late Friday that he intended to charge Greer with contempt of Congress.

"No little judge sitting in a state district court in Florida is going to usurp the authority of Congress," he complained.

I agree with you. She is not decerebrate. She is not even deccorticate.

The question of killing her seems to stem from some powerful stimulus. What could be this powerful of a motivator to order the execution in full view of the world...Pride?possible......Money?possible.....Altruism?doubtful.......No, I believe this is an angenda motivated killing. It will jump-start the euthenasia movement and will pick up its pace if we do not crush this movement. It does not seem like America any more.

Florida nursing homes went thru a real hard time in the 80s and 90s and not sure they are that great right now, either. Although I know there's a decent hospice near Daytona people use.

I quit a church years ago because the pastor said it was against God's law to vote for mixed drinks to be served in. And then to top it all off he asked for a show of hands of all against the new ordinance, then all for it, trying to be honest I raised my hand in the for it group of one, me. Knew a lot of members who would vote for it and that is the main reason I quit. Does not mean I don't believe in God.

I agree with you on this poem and its ideas. Evil sure can expand its influence. I hold voters in states like Florida, California, and Massachusetts in great contempt. I am so tired of right-wing politicians with all their wimpy, spineless talk-talk-talk, but do nothing attitude. Left-wing corrupt judges and politicians, geez, what a horrible group they are.
Thank you for your poem.

If Terri is under federal suponea, then she needs the proection. The only way to garentee this is to have a U.S. Marshal bodygaurd. That way the force & musle of the federal gov't can be seen & felt!

You're equating mixed drinks served in church with another's support for life, both being bad?

Before you tell me that I'm turning your words around, why even use that sort of analogy if you don't think it?

The vast majority of politicians I hold in utter contempt. To hell with issues that really matter, they only hold self interests and worry about getting elected in the next election cycle.

Frist like all RINO's is a eunuch with no cajones, he will not dare do anything unilaterally in this instance.

I was dissappointed by the recent statement of the parents. I know they are going through a nightmare and are not thinking clearly but why is the POTUS, Jeb Bush and the entire Republican congress being blamed for her impending death by dehydration, when they are the only people trying to do something to help?

Isn't that the goal of all of us true believers - to be next to God in heaven? Shouldn't we be happy for her?

If you really believe that then why are YOU not drinking poison TODAY and going off to narvana?

Q: What do you call a person who supports taking innocent life and fights tooth and nail to save murderers?

A: EVIL!

Q: What do you call a person who fights to starve a human being to death and fights against interrogation of terrorists?

A: EVIL!

Q: What do you call a group of people who fit this category?

A: LIBERAL DEMOCRATS and PROGRESSIVES!

(or to Blacks, or to Catholics or to Jews or to any other minority that might be unpopular in the trailer-park counties of the South)

I don't disagree with your sentiments but that is a smear against the South and good Southern people. I resent it, Sir. Note that there are "trailer park" counties up North, too. Worst yet you have the wealthy liberal counties that cheer and support minorities in the South while excluding them from living in their lily white communities. The same behavior exists in other blue states. Look at Oakland, Calfornia vice San Marin county.

I think the judge needs to be arrested for attempted murder.

What an inane comment... Sheesh! I know emotions are high right now but think about what you wrote...!

I see that you have been getting angry often lately and then find the need to apologize. Your desperate feelings over Terri's plight is understandable.

****

To LB on the thread 'Blogging Revolution May Help Save Terri’s Life' you wrote, "I've had my rage-colored glasses on for a couple of weeks over the potential murder of Terri Schiavo and I got nuclear in my reaction."

To M-24 on 'The Abuse of Terri Schindler-Schiavo' you wrote, "I re-read your post... sorry. I was wearing my rage-colored glasses after reading many many posts for many many days and didn't see your final statement. I only saw the part about the expense. Please accept my apology."

****

Well, you're a good person, because you have the decency to apologize when you goof. I've read a number of your posts. You have a very good heart. Please don't get too down over this.

Let's all say prayers for Terri, and hope things change for her very soon.

I think it's particularly insidious when those who support Terri's death invoke God while doing so.

You're right, those who see it as a wonderful thing surely aren't in any hurry to get there themselves.

I don't disagree with your sentiments but that is a smear against the South and good Southern people.

I was engaging in rhetorical license.. I thought it would be effective to draw the analogy between Congress defending civil rights today - for Terri - and Congress defending civil rights in the past - for victims of segregation. It's a sound analogy, but I went overboard in suggesting that the segregationist judges and politicians are representative of most southerners today. However, the people of Florida - who seem to be siding with Greer, according to the polls - are as morally blind as their grandparents were when Florida had segregation.

Ok, so are you saying that because there is a copy of an old "exit protocol" from her last execution attempt that means it is exactly the same one being used now?

Personally, I highly doubt the doctors writing the orders for this time around are going to announce to us, the public, what drugs they are and are not administering to their patient.
