Frist Threatens Jail for Terri Judge(Shiavo Feeding)
Newsmax ^ | 3/19/05

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Friday that subpoenas issued by Sen. Mike Enzi compelling Terri Schiavo to appear at a March 28 congressional hearing made it a crime to disconnect her feeding tube - and threatened anyone who interfered with her testimony with jail.

In a statement issued by the majority leader's office, Frist said:

"Federal criminal law protects witnesses called before official Congressional committee proceedings from anyone who may obstruct or impede a witness’ attendance or testimony."

"More specifically," said the Senate's top Republican, "the law protects a witness from anyone who - by threats, force, or by any threatening letter or communication - influences, obstructs, or impedes an inquiry or investigation by Congress.

"Anyone who violates this law is subject to criminal fines and imprisonment," Frist said.

His comments appeared to be directed at Florida state judge George Greer, who brazenly defied the Enzi subpoena on Friday and ordered Schiavo's starvation to commence.

Frist's statement echoed comments by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who said late Friday that he intended to charge Greer with contempt of Congress.

"No little judge sitting in a state district court in Florida is going to usurp the authority of Congress," he complained.

In the eternal Kingdom everyone there will be in a better place. Doesn't mean you want everyone to go there before their time, does it?

Bush's administration is AWOL on saving a woman's life

They're too busy establishing voting rights for Iraqi women to be bothered with protecting the life of a handicapped American woman at home!

"Empty Threat"

Yep! It would've meant something if ACTION was taken yesterday when the Judge flipped them the bird! Too little and much too late...THEY sound like my neighbors barking dog...ALL BARK AND NO BITE! I hope down the road I'm wrong though... :(

When a state usurps the constitutional right to life and legally murders an innocent person, the federal government is derelict if they don't step in, put a hold order on it, thoroughly investigate it, and enforce it.

Problem is an unpopular war with soldiers fighting to save American lives trumps one disabled woman in Florida. That's the reality of it.

Both parties are skating on thin ice no matter what they do, and they both know it.

Once the abortion horse got out of the barn, it's much more difficult to defend any innocent life.

These judges fear no one, not even God.

Excellent question, you'd think if the man is too blind to drive (as he in fact is) that he would be unable to competently rule in some cases. But no doubt federally drafted disabilities law protects Judge Greer in his position. Funny how the same law isn't used to protect Terri.

What an inane comment... We will all be better off when we get to the next life. I KNOW I'll be better off, does that mean I should DIE because it'll be better for me? According to your statement, we should all be praying for a huge nuclear war because so many people would die and get to their reward in heaven. Sheesh! I know emotions are high right now but think about what you wrote...!

"Terri was asked "do you want to live" and Terri twice said "yeah". "
How many people were witness to this? What about now, is she morphined up?

******

I read somewhere yesterday that she would be getting morphine, which affects respiratory function--it depresses it. It will hasten her death.

Last time they pulled the feeding tube, she lasted six days before the Governor intervened. I believe Michael et al will make sure intervention doesn't happen again. I think by Monday she will be gone.

The President of the United States could intervene through his Attorney General.

For the President to allow a judge in Florida to order an innocent woman be starved to death under the false cover of "law" is unforgiveable.

To argue all legal remedies have been exhausted to facilitate this barbarism is a clarion call OUR ENTIRE LEGAL SYSTEM IS EXHAUSTED AND SHOULD BE THROWN OUT, along with the barbaric judges and lawyers who try to wear a false cloak of legalism to commit this murder of an innocent.

Let's bring the washing bowl to the podium for the President to absolve himself by washing his hands of this slow death of an innocent before the mob.

The only thing missing is the cops, on the scene to insure the slow and certain death of Terry Schiavo is accomplished, should be casting lots for her hospital gown.

Pontius Pilate, call your office.

I believe that is probably what's going on in their minds. More to the point, if this is allowed to stand a dirty politician and/or person/cop/businessman would feel a lot less worried getting rid of witnesses... And witnesses would not be coming forward, that is almost a sure thing.

The "conflict" is in beliefs regarding putting to death someone who has committed no crime, versus putting to death someone who HAS committed a crime.

But, since you brought up that little matter of conflict, as a matter of LAW, a Congressional Subpoena has been issued for Terri Schiavo. Regardless of whether or not she can testify on her own behalf, the LAW is still in effect! The LAW must be followed! The Florida judge is defying the LAW and Congress, by interfering with a Congressional Subpoena. Now THAT is a huge conflict isn't it?

If it makes you feel a bit better: I have a very close friend who is a federal judge. He speaks VERY highly of the marshals. I have seen him interact with them - always in a positive way - at least when I've been around. Marshals are impressive!

"I have seen the MRI"

You've seen a CT scan. They can't do an MRI because of the metal (stimulators) implanted in her skull. Besides, there is no reason to do an MRI when the CT scan is so obvious. An MRI is done to examine fine detail of damage that doesn't show up on a CT scan. The damage to her brain is so extensive that doing an MRI would be like looking for a mountain with a microscope.

So Scum Peterson's murder conviction and death sentence are "political"?

Huh?

Read the part that the summons protects said witness from any harm. What is missing is the gonads to follow the serving.

Agreed. But a judge sitting in jail for awhile can also serve as a warning to any other ACLU-types out there who think they can get away with snubbing the political will of the American people, too.
