I very rarely went to burst. The use of automatic is way over emphasized, due in great measure by "Hollywood". It's great for getting an enemy's head down initially or for covering someone while they move but your accuracy after the first shot goes way down and you burn up ammunition very quickly. The M-4, like the regular M-16, has a very high "cyclic" rate and it does not take long for even a 30 round magazine to evaporate. Our basic combat load was 210 rounds, 7 magazines, and you could go through it very quickly if you were not careful.

True, but "they" won't let us have those either, even though they are "arms" and we are part of the group known as "the people" who "right to keep and bear arms" "shall not be infringed", according to the highest law of the land.
