So far, all I've seen from Congress is a lot of posturing and hot air. They, as well as the Florida legislature, have had years to work on legislation that would both pass both houses and pass Constitutional muster. They've done nothing until late last week.

All this breathless posturing is great for fund-raising when the good ole boys back home slap 'em on the back and say "Well, you kicked some ass, at least. Too bad she died."

I love Tom DeLay, but he's got to be tickled to no end to be able to stand by the flag and pretend to shake his finger in a state judge's face. Gets everybody's mind off all that ethics stuff.

It was in no politician's interest to get involved until the focus of the media was on zero hour!

I agree.

What ethics stuff? The politically motivated trumped-up charges the left fabricated?

You are reverting to your true Dimocrat shill form.

The Florida legislature has known for weeks that Terri's Law I was ruled unconstitutional by the high courts, but rather propose legislation that'd pass constitutional muster, have hearings, get votes and work out a compromise bill and the like sat on their hands until the last minute. Ditto for the US House and Senate. Sending out letters of invitation to Schaivo, the nursing home, etc. was just plain silly--and a waste of time. The subpoenae, as well as the threat to hold Judge Greer in contempt of congress, was legal chicanery. It gets the congresscritters face time on TV, raise some funds--but they wasted time.

The House did find time to hold hearings on steriods in major league baseball based on Jose Canseco's book, though. However, the House and Senate couldn't stay in session on Friday to get legislation passed--although I'd rather see this done by the state of Florida.
