It's extremely embarrassing. The "hearings" were a sham, and everybody, including Greer, knows it. So, he's going to dare Congress to find him in contempt, which, I predict, DeLay will not do, despite his bluster.
This is a state matter, and the state has run out of options.
Are we going to stand by while Congress goes after every individual situation like this? Is this really what the Legislative Branch is supposed to be involved in?
Look, I wish Michael would divorce this woman and leave her to her parents. But Florida law is clear on the matter, as this has been adjudicated for the last seven years.
This is not going to go the way we want it to.
Well, to put a different perspective to it, the Florida legislature had 7 years to address this. Where were they when the Florida Supremes (the same criminal syndicate that tried to steal the election for Al Gore) overturned the previous law they passed to save Terri's life?
This whole thing is an example of a colossal failure of leadership, courage, and moral strength...on everyone's part. I'm ashamed of everyone in this -- the Florida courts, Jeb, the Fl. legislature, Congress, Tom Delay -- everyone. To say there was nothing that could be done, that Greer was only doing what he was forced by the laws of Florida to do and nothing could change the situation, that this is a state issue, the feds have no say in issues like this, is bull sh!t, IMO. Something should have been done, could have been done, and now it's too late...except for cranking out grandstanding press releases, apparently.

Stop making a damn fool of yourself Deacon.
Yes, but Judge Greer isn't following Florida law, he's breaking it. According to a Florida Internation University law professor, in a recent opinion article in Miami Herald, Florida law requires that, unless there is "clear and convincing" evidence that a patient desired not to be kept on feeding support, the feeding support stays. The professor said Judge Greer's decision was "shocking" because there isn't anything near "clear and convincing" evidence of Terri's wishes - only the husband's memory, offered years after she'd first become disabled, of a casual comment she made while watching TV. At the same time, a comment going the other way was recalled by a friend of Terri's. So you have conflicting testamony, and none of it relating a considered, formal opinion on Terri's part. No weight of evidence that rises to "clear and convincing." In short, the judge isn't following "Florida law" - he's either incompetent or incredibly arrogant with a personal agenda.
I guess we are in a holding pattern as it were, until Congress can find time on Monday to hash it out and top shelf whatever logs are jammed in the queue. I don't like the fact that the Legislative branch thinks it's got jurisdiction in the Judicial branch. Just like the nitwit DUmmies think the Judicial branch has all the credentials to do the job of the Legislative branch of government. These last few days, weeks, months and years have literally put government into a pretzel.
