DeLay Pledges Contempt Charge for Terri Judge

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay pledged Friday to hold Florida state judge George Greer in contempt of Congress for ignoring a congressional subpoena for Terri Schiavo's testimony, saying, "No little judge sitting in a state district court in Florida is going to usurp the authority of Congress."

"The Congress will pursue this, if we have to hold him in contempt of Congress," DeLay told radio host Sean Hannity.

Pressed on whether he intended to hold Judge Greer in contempt, the top Republican told Hannity: "Absolutely, absolutely."

"We will do everything to enforce the power and authority of the Congress and no little judge sitting in a state district court in Florida is going to usurp the authority of Congress," he added.

Earlier in the day Judge Greer rebuffed the Schiavo subpoena, telling attorneys in the case, "I have had no cogent reason why the [congressional] committee should intervene." He claimed that the last-minute action on the part of Congress does not nullify years of legal proceedings.

But DeLay told Hannity, "This judge and the Supreme Court of Florida are well known to be liberal judges that have a different worldview and they're imposing their worldview on the law."

The top House leader said that "no sane person" could look at Schiavo and say she's in a persistent vegetative state.

DeLay called a lawyer for Michael Schiavo, who has pressed for years to have his wife starved to death, "the personification of evil."

Even from a humanistic perspective, why not require either that, or an oral statement UNDER OATH. If it "inconveniences" families who are simply bent on doing a relative to death without his or her being required to show formally that's what he or she wants... GOOD!!!!! The government is SUPPOSED to be God's wrath upon evil.

Federal Grand Jury for Felos, Greer, MSchiavo, The Hospice, and the doctors and nurses who removed the tube.

Seek indictments on Capitol Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.

Fry em all if she dies.

He claimed that the last-minute action on the part of Congress does not nullify years of legal proceedings.

Legal machinations is more like it. For example, dismissing this 1991 bone scan report as "interesting [but having] nothing to do with Theresa Marie Schiavo in 2002 and the Mandate of the Second District Court of Appeal in this cause rendered October 17, 2001.

Well, where then IS IT relevant? Do we just ignore it?

Most southern states recognize common law marriages provided that the woman is at least 13 years of age and the man 15 years old. I think that they have to live together for at least 7 years and a day for it to become effective.

That won't do anything. By then, Teri will be dead. If she is being denied water, she will be dead by Wednesday. Moreover, a replacement judge would respect the removed judge's findings of fact. That is what one could describe as lashing out. If we impeached and convicted and removed all judges who abuse their power, or make erroneous decisions, there would be a lot of vacancies.

Just as an example. Let's say that I don't want to be kept alive in Terri's condition.

Suddenly I get there.

My wife can't find the living will, although she knows what I want. My parents argue about it.

Is that what you want?

He's the commander in chief and has the army, navy, marines, air force behind him. That's enough legal ground for moi. If not, send in the people.

Settle down there, General. Do you have any Constitutional basis for him to actually do this? Wait a minute, of course you don't. Why don't we just do away with all the government except George Bush. He'll protect us is that it? I've yet to see any of you ardently supporting keeping the tube in this woman actually base anything relative to the Constitution, except to twist it's meaning to fit your immediate desires. But apparently, we just throw that document out and 'fix' it later, eh? What a precedent that will set for future generations...

And if he doesn't are you advocating armed revolt against the rule of law? For one woman that may or may not be alive? Been reading other pages on this issue all day long and I can't say I'm sure of anything anymore, other than the fact that the United States Congress or the President of these United States has any business in this situation.

Kimmie: Here's another message I just received from Congressman King. We might remember his family in prayer as his mom was just diagnosed with a malignant melanoma in her eye and must have her eye removed:

"Feel free to post. The Freepers deserve an update from the inside. I caution that we have a long way to go before Terri's legal situation is stable.

Best blessings to you, Steve King"

This I've gotta see. If DeLay does this, I'll eat my nonexistent bowler hat.

Noted.

>>>I am unsure if anything will be done to George W. Greer by Tom DeLay. I lack confidence in this subpoena caper working out in the long run.>>>

This is a bluff by the republicans. It's all blather. "Well, we hate she died, but boy did it make me mad!!". BAH!

I am a new republican and I am quite dissapointed in 'my' party. What is the point of all the campaigning I did last November? What is the point of working so damn hard to get these people of 'my' party elected if they are going to cow tow to the democrats??? All talk and no action. Why even bother?

Disgusted Republican (?)

Well hopefully it won't take your wife 7 years as it did Michael, to remember your request.

So far, all I've seen from Congress is a lot of posturing and hot air. They, as well as the Florida legislature, have had years to work on legislation that would both pass both houses and pass Constitutional muster. They've done nothing until late last week.

Talk is cheap.

My thoughts exactly. Terry would divorce him if she could if she found out that he was such a callous uncaring adulterous bastard.

He's no Husband.
