Terri would have died already without the medical capabilities we have today.

Actually not - she used to be fed with a spoon, which isn't exactly high technology. The original insertion of the feeding tube was for the convenience of the staff. They could probably go back to spoonfeeding tomorrow, but it's forbidden to feed her.

Can someone explain exactly how this "husband" has "ordered" that no one can spoon feed Terri, no one can give her flowers or balloons and "they" must keep the drapes closed and no one can take her outside??? How does he get this power?
