Greer gives order
That's the difference, she isn't brain dead.
Man, your post makes me thinking about my written will for these situations again. I use to trust the docs... maybe I shouldn´t.
My personal feeling on the issue is that Congress has no constitutional authority to issue the subpoenas in this case. It was a cowards way out. In 1974, Congress should have legislatively defined when a life begins and ends. However, once the subpoenas are issued, they have force of law and since they are issued by Congress, it becomes a federal matter. It is up to Michael Schiavo to file a motion in federal court to quash the subpoena. (And I don't know if you can quash a legislative subpoena.) This hasn't been done.
Look, calmly, without name calling, the only reason she has bedsores is tha Michael has denied proper care for her. If she looks like she is making any progress, he goes back to court to get it stopped. HE picked the hospice! The things you are saying are not backed up by the many articles on this Terri.
What suffering. We are all suffering.
Not for 15 years.
Conflicting reports....Greer says remove it....Greer says congress had 5 years to get involved? Congress going to federal court...Waxman calls subpoenas an abuse of power
TERRI IS NOT BRAIN DEAD!!!!!
Sounds to me like she has improved on her own without therapy and no one is even checking. Sounds to me that what we are learning is that coma may be a deep sleep that we go into while the brain tries to heal itself, not that Terri's been in one.
Ping to #445
I figured you did. That was such a big story in New Jersey at the time but as you point out most people born in the last 30 years or so never heard of it.
The husband is a CREEP!!!
Florida doesn't have common-law marriages. If it did, this would all be moot, and Terri would not be under threat of him killing her.
My 5 year old had a feeding tube since he was a baby (a g-tube). It is just a little button on the left side his abdomen that goes directly into his stomach. You'd never know he had one unless he pulled up his shirt.
I agree 100%. I'm praying for Terri, her husband, her parents, her siblings.
Unfortunately, this issue has the potential to linger for years. Look what could happen next:
Later today: Federal judge orders the tube re-inserted until issue is litigated in federal courts. Our constitutional democracy is messy, but it's less messy of all the systems around. Two weeks from today: The US House of Representatives passes the federal version of "Terri's Law", already passed by the US Senate. The President will sign it. Federal "Terri's Law" orders a review of the case in federal court.
A year from today: A federal dictrict court makes a decision, which is appealed all the way to the US Supreme Court.
Two years from today: The US Supreme Court makes a decision, but by then, the new "facts" have emerged, creating the need for new motions, and hearings.
2030: Terri dies of natural death, and the US courts are still litigating whether she was in vegetative state.
I agree, however, isn´t she given morphium or else? Has she active brain functions?
It's amazing what TLC can do to improve the quality of a disabled person's life.
A judge has the jurisdiction to tell congress they can't do anything?
Who died and made this judge the prime ruler? Sounds to me like Greer is in bed with Terry's "husband".....
They must be served "in hand" and have proper legal notice of the subpoena. It "in hand" via a proper agent of congress or judiciary. It is not enough to just know about it.
What is the name of the hospital?
It is simple enough to find the name of the registered agent on http://www.sunbiz.org which lists all FL corporations and their agents designated to recieve service of process.
