Many homosexuals in Manhattan are also doing lots of crystal meth. It's all the rage and you know it's a problem when you see meth help posters in the subways around the Village. I wonder concurrent drug abuse is affecting this or possibly causing the mutations.

There's been speculation for years that some of the AIDS "symptoms" are really caused by drug use. I don't know whether it makes sense medically or not. Drugs can cause genetic damage in humans; could they also produce mutations in a virus? I don't know.
What terrible lives these men lead. I'd want to die, too, I think.

The original spread of AIDS followed the popularizing of amyl nitrate or "poppers" among the community.

Well, don't know if the meth increases anything, or affects the virus itself. I do know, it lessens inhibitions. It enables the perverse to be even more perverse. I don't know ANY normal person, on drugs or not, that even COULD, have sex with 30 or more people in an 6-8 hour period, that is what the meth does for them.
