Gender differences ARE real. Men and women are not interchangeable, except in the Happy Land Of Make-Believe. Reality prevailed over political correctness and feminist dogma when Mike Nichols killed a female deputy and a female court stenographer as well as Judge Roland W. Barnes. A concern with the effects of "disparate impact" in hiring for public safety jobs led to the murder of two women. So we could feel good about having achieved "equality." We can't afford it when people's lives are on the line. What we need to do to protect us is have people who are strong enough to hold the bad guys in check. That means men - and feminazism and PC be damned.

Oops about the Nichols typo. To resume, yes we like to believe people are identical except for their plumbing. OK - then something bothers me. If that's true, why do feminists care if men are police officers or fire fighters. After all people are the same, right? No need for quotas based on gender since as the feminizts insist with a straight face - a person's plumbing is irrelevant.

What? Feelings or lives? Which is more important? I marvel at this concern with hurt feelings when two women are dead. That's a wonderful contribution to "equality" - all to spare hurt feelings. >sarcasm

Yes people get hung up on the gender but we need to focus on the size.A short man is just as much a problem as small women....More women use their guns more causing more fatalities which adds to the problem.

Exactly. Height and Strength matters in the police, fire services and the military. I'm a man of slight build, which despite my hearing disability, would have disqualified me from those jobs since you have to be strong enough to deal with dangerous circumstances and protect those around you. We have to accept the fact that certain jobs will always call for a certain height and a level of strength necessary to get them done. Gender aside, if we ignore it, we're putting the lives of innocent people at needless risk.

Political Correctness is endangering the safety and security of our nation on a daily basis. This article does a good job of describing the physical and emotional "dumbing down" effect on society of these make-believe regulations which are ending in death and destruction. If you weight 180 pounds, do you want a 120 pound female or male firefighter coming to rescue you from your burning building or worse, to have to move some kind of heavy object to rescue your child? The matter of police work is more serious because severe situations occur more frequently. Women can do many things and they should be screened for the tasks they can do, and they should be barred from what their physical attributes tell us they cannot do. Lives depend on good sense and our blindness and our affluence have defrauded us through the allowance of crazy, irrational thinking regarding so many crucial areas of security in our communities. Human creation is what it is and magical thinking, which used to be called abnormal, will not change the facts. Many people want to pretend they can sing like Whitney Houston but put them on the stage and tell them to make a living at it and they will fail miserably..This is cut of the same cloth. It is time we confronted this issue and put pressure on the ruling authorities to change it back to reflect reality.

One of the refreshing things after 9/11 is that a lot of PC was jettisoned for a while. Men were celebrated as men and the loss of women in a violent attack was viewed with particular poignancy. It really is extraordinary to go back and read newspaper stories from that time. Even the NYTimes put the advancement of the feminist agenda on the back burner for a while.

What we haven't heard so far is who made the call to put Deputy Hall in charge of Nichols?

Whoever that person is has a lot of explaining to do, and could be looking at a lawsuit. The Sheriff's Department itself could be in for a mega-suit.

But, because of the PC pressure to keep Deputy Hall out of the picture, this whole event will probably - quietly - disappear.

You are exactly right..Isn't it sad that peace and prosperity have ushered in such idiotic thinking? One wonders how much political correctness entered into the changes in our CIA, FBI, checks for driver's licenses, airline screenings, etc., prior to 9/11 which allowed that horrible event to happen in the first place..We have heard that the Carter administration gutted the CIA because of something akin to political correctness. The problem is the retracing of consequences to determine how and why things happen..Political correctness effects even that. All political parties want to try to cover up what their party might have put into place which resulted in a bad situation for society but that is how we learn about what helps us or hurts us. Perfection will never be possible but we can avoid using insanity as the basis for our action and studying what Mother Nature gave each of us is the first place to start. She made us to be different parts of a whole..If we were made to be the heart, we cannot be the muscle. Just yesterday, I became very upset when I heard that people in Mexico are busing their children across the border, everyday, to attend our taxpayer public schools and the effect is running American children out of those schools. How is it possible that our governments are allowing this? Do we not know that this will destroy our nation? Are we going to procrastinate until this burden is so heavy and this population so strong that we will disintegrate from within, to then be taken over from without? Why can we not integrate these people in a timely and controlled fashion? Are short-term profits worth sacrificing over 200 years of struggle for a free nation worth it? If each of us had a choice of living 21 years in the lap of luxury, or, living more modestly for 80 years, which would we choose? Our schools, our healthcare system and our society cannot bear this. California is effected at the moment, but this will grow, just like viruses or cancers. I know this is off-topic but it is the reflection of another politically correct notion which is hurting us and our children every day we live.

*big grin*

I LIKE this man. I kept wanting to take excerpts out to respond to when I realized that I would be reposting the whole article!

Thank you for introducing me to him. What a breath of fresh air and common sense.

I just don't understand why some women find these realities so difficult to accept. But, then again, the feminist agenda never stuck with me.

Its sad that we are pushing our women into warfare and careers.. while encouraging our men to be stay at home dads.

And lying to our young telling them they can be whatever they want to be. Instead of telling them, most things they won't excel at, instead follow your own strengths.

A short man has considerably more upper body strength and more wind. That noted, yes the guard should be physically selected for the job, and there should be at least 2 of them.

I have a term (that I hope catches on) and I call it FOLNO, Fact Of Life Number One (men and women are different).

But forgetting FOLNO is just one area where modern society pretends and trouble always brews when a society pretends. Examples:

-In the US we pretended that Black people are not people, instead pretending they were property like or horse or a cow leading to untold misery.

-The Nazis pretended that Jews were not people and tried to exterminate all the Jews of Europe. They didn't succeed but they did kill 6,000,000 or so.

-Currently the world is pretending that pre-born people are not people. Abortion is legal in most places. Don't want your baby? Just kill it. That's the attitude. I heard a (true?) story yesterday that said a woman in England aborted, i.e., killed her baby because it would have been born with a horrible birth-defect. The birth-defect? A cleft pallet.

Feel free to add to the list.

I believe now the minimum height for an NYPD recruit is 5'2'' for females...to see a cop that size, loaded down with all the gear they carry...it's, at best, humorous..
