Why a strong arm dictator? Last time I checked we don't have SS guys marching through our streets, nor do we have a monument to them - is that because we have a "strong-arm dictator"???? Common decency doesn't allow it. There is no excuse to "honor" men who allied themselves with the Nazis.
The Balts cannot have it both ways - they can not build their museums of occupation and then either look the other way or encourage celebration of their folks who allied with Hitler's troops.
Should they allow a monument to and celebrations of their Soviet occupiers? It's about the same.
I've been to Latvia several times, it's a fantastic place - they are way better than this.
