Yes, and this is why I think Adam Smith is never correctly interpreted, because no one reads his previous work, "A Theory of Moral Sentiments," where he defines "self-interest" as information, not as greed. Capitalism is first and foremost selfless, because regardless of your motivation, a good capitalist, to succeed, must GIVE first (through production or investment) before RECEIVING. It doesn't matter why he gives---he may love his fellow man, may want to get rich---but the system requires a sacrifice first, followed by a return.

Marxism is just the opposite and is always portrayed as "good" and "selfless." Quite the contrary: in Marxism, which is based on the Labor Theory of Value, you deserve to get paid any time you exert labor, whether you SERVE someone or not. Therefore our universities and intellecutals have stood the two exactly on their heads: communism/socialism/Marxism are inherently SELFISH ("take and it will be given unto you") while capitalism is godly, in line with Christian principles, and selfless in its actions ("give and it will be given unto you.")

It makes so much sense when pared down to basics, doesn't it. I enjoyed your comment.

Good points. The left tries to portray the PHD Sociologist, who is the overlord of the unwashed masses.. as the American Hero.
