Bears repeating:

"A vast majority of Alaskans, both Democrats and Republicans, support the plan... It's also only fair to give special weight to the views of the only people who live in the coastal plain: the Inupiat Eskimos, who overwhelmingly favor drilling "

Heh... ex-senator Daschle defended his own previous vote against drilling the ANWR by claiming it would take ten years for the oil to reach the market. He gave no explanation for how *not* drilling it would help the energy crisis, as it isn't likely to improve with age.

Barbara Boxer, in the SF Chronicle:

"Shame on the Senate; that's all I can say," California Democrat Barbara Boxer said after the vote. "This place is a God-given gift, and it's such an arrogant thing to do this. It goes against every value that people claim to have. If you value God, how could you do this? It's hypocritical, and it's a sad day for the country."
. . . . . . . . .
(uh, merely substituting 'God' for 'Gaia' won't win over red staters.)
. . . . . . . . .
"This battle now moves outside," Boxer said. "What we need to do is to start a consumer movement that says to the oil companies, 'If you go ahead and go in there, we're not going to fill up at your pumps.' "
. . . . . . . . .
(fine, more cheap gas for us.)

When we finally meet our Maker, we are not going to be asked our position on evolution or the Big Bang. We are going to be asked about what we did to protect the resources we were given.

This Sentence was later deleted from the original report: The Almighty will want to know how many women we 'saved' from evil fetuses and how many murderers we kept alive!

"When we finally meet our Maker, we are not going to be asked our position on evolution or the Big Bang. We are going to be asked about what we did to protect the resources we were given"...LOL!!! HAHAHAHA!!! The most hilarious quote I've heard in a long time.---

I wonder how many cups of coffee I let sit in the pot till they were so stale I had to throw them out?!?

Talk about wasting resources...

I know this was yesterday's thread, but I agree. We were given these resources to USE.

They think everything is there by accident.

Uh, no. He's going to be more interested in how we feel about evolution, because that will indicate whether or not we believe in Him and His son.

The American people believe there should be some places on this earth left the way the Almighty made them in the first place.

Maybe so. But He didn't put oil under those places....

We are going to be asked about what we did to protect the resources we were given.

Now what makes them think that? I would expect we would be asked how we treated other people--now how we treated a blade of grass or a weed. Sheesh.

The Demos are also assuming that ANWR will be ruined.
