Ok, so in essence she's been sentenced to death by a court. So why can't President Bush pardon that sentence? I'm a little rusty on civics, but seems like Gov Bush could do the same thing?

It takes several days, possibly a week, for a person to die the slow death from dehydration. Don't you remember the last time they tried to kill her, in late 2003, and had her disconnected for 6 days? The talk about her skin changing, etc?

This is a horrific way to go.

Schiavo, if he doesn't pay the debt to justice here on earth with his own life, will likely have a very, very hot place in hell.

Thanks for mentioning that thread, I missed it. Did a search and here it is - Florida judge's pastor says removal of Schiavo's feeding tube would be unethical

So why can't President Bush pardon that sentence?

Because Terri didn't commit a crime, a Presidential pardon is impossible and doesn't apply.

"If that is Terri's wish, I say let her go."

Why do you say it's Terri's wish? See the following:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Regarding that alleged conversation [when Terri supposedly said she would want to die in such a situation] --Cindy Shook said that Michael Schiavo said:
"How the hell should I know, we never spoke about this, we were young."
Yes, and that is what people like ORECON can't stand...the fact that we are mainly supporting Terri in a mess that is so unbelievable filled with deception, conflicts of interest, a judge who thinks invoking the law is a waste of time except what he makes up as he goes along.
This is not just about Terri. What happens to her is what sets the stage for millions more.
ORECON is from the other side. You can see it in the postings.
I am at my wits end, because you SUPPORTERS of Terri's cause are IGNORING the absolute legal protection provided by Florida and Federal law concerning witholding water and food from the disabled
It's legal and happens in all 50 states fairly often.
Again, I don't believe he may/does have a conflict of interest. The courts also don't believe he may have/has a conflict of interest.
If you don't like us having that legal choice, then work to change the law.
I remember reading about a woman that made that choice.
I read that she changed her mind and asked for water and food a couple of days later. Doctors said she was just demented because of the lack of water and that was not really her wish.
The last thing she ever said was, "water!". It took her 2 weeks to die.
Your hero already worked to change it. Felos helped push through a law declaring food and water to be extraordinary measures. You can call an apple a plum, but that doesn't make it so. When Terri is alleged to have made her declaration that she "wouldn't want to live like that," food and water were recognized as basic human needs. Even though that law has been changed, it's still illegal to remove Terri's feeding tube, and it's illegal to deny her the right to eat and drink orally.
I will GLADLY eat my words about Jeb Bush
I don't know what you've been saying of Jeb Bush, but believe me when I tell you that Jeb Bush is really sincere about his involvement in this case. Jeb Bush is not playing politics; he's really convinced that Terri should not removed from her artificial feeding tube.
I have talked to Jeb's friends, and all of them have told me the same story. Jeb is really concerned about this case.
So whatever happens, take into consideration that Jeb is doing his utter best to keep Terri alive.
I disagree with Jeb on this issue, but I respect him more after watching him deal with Terri's situation, irrespective of the political consequences.
"If you value life you would not blame the innocent child."
even the life of your mortal enemy? I don't think so.
Life is, indeed, the ultimate issue, but not the life of my enemy.
God's will WILL be done because God is sovereign. That will is yet hidden, as of today. That said, God demands the defense of the innocent. Failure to do so by those able invites judgment insofar as they are complicit in violating the sixth commandment.
Proverbs 24:11 [NIV] Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.
12 If you say, "But we knew nothing about this," does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?
Oh man how awful! Sorry, but if someone is begging for water give them water!! I think some may think it is a peaceful way to die, but I'd love for them to try it out, it is not so peaceful!
You are grasping at straws. If you don't like the law, then work to change it. I happen to agree that feeding tubes are an artificial life support and my will says don't do it. That is my legal choice. I had to put it in writing to protect my wife from people who disagree with my legal choice.
I find your statement irrational just like I find the holdings of Florida courts.
