My husband and I were driving in Compton, CA a few years ago and were pulled over three times by the police (all black), questioned as to why we were there and told to leave the area - immediately. Oh ya we are white.

That's weird. I am white, drive through the "community" daily (have done so for 15 years), and have never had that experience. It's a rat hole, but if you stay on the main streets, you shouldn't have a problem. Racism there? Nah, I don't see it.

Probably not .. the point is that if you are somewhere that seems out of the norm you may be pulled over. IE black guy running down the street at four in the morning in suburbia. He may be out for his morning jog but it is out of the ordinary.
Two white people driving through Compton is out of the ordinary.
