(TEXAS) STATE SENATOR FILES BILL TO EXPLORE POSSIBILITY OF HAVING TEXAS PRISON BUILT IN MEXICO

Estes say there could be cost savings if some of the 7,700 Mexican prisoners were re-housed

A state senator has introduced a bill that would allow the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to look at building prisons in Mexico for Mexican nationals currently imprisoned in Texas.

Sen. Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls) said he filed Senate Bill 1119 because state prisons are at or near capacity. He cited TDCJ statistics that show that the state is looking at a $62 million price tag to rent space from county jails.

"The long run cost savings to Texas could be astronomical as there are currently 7,700 Mexican nationals in the Texas system," Estes said. "Senate Bill 1119 does not require TDCJ to build a prison. It allows the agency to explore the option of building a prison in Mexico, which is up to Texas standards of quality but can operate at a much lower cost."

Hmm if they actually sent them to that prison that's fine with me. As long as the prison is an open field and the only cost to the tax payer is gas money to deport the criminals

I don't really give a crap what happens to the aliens once they get deported.

I don't see why we need to limit it to aliens (once again they are getting special treatment) Send all the criminals on over.

Sounds like a great idea to me. House all illegals convicted in America in Mexican Prisons. Make then only to Mexican Standards. House our worse there as well eventually. Make it real hard time.

Make the law not reviewable by the Supreme Court.

And with the money that's saved, build a nice, sturdy fence along the border...

I'm pretty sure it's either illegal or unconstitutional for a state to deport American citizens to another country.

Even if they're criminals. American citizenship has some inalienable rights. I think that the anarchists deported 100 years ago (like Emma Goldman) were not naturalized.

Sorry, they'd have people climbing the walls to get into prison!

Consignment in Mexico would probably be less than $5K.

Mexico should pay all of these expenses. This is their problem, a problem which they have illegally transfered to us. Either, they accept responsibility for their citizen, subject to US verification (to make sure the full sentence is carried out), or we expend $0.45 and put a bullet it him and toss the carcass across the border.

What makes this republican fool think that Mexico would allow this? Some people will do anything to get their 15 minutes of fame.
