I was down at Starbucks having a Moccahino (soy, no foam) with a Caribou. You may think it is odd that a moose would be in a coffee bar, but I live in a very tolerant community. Anyway, the moose was saying that the sight of these oil drilling rigs would despoil the pristine natural beauty of the wilderness, and that Caribou are very sensitive to such aesthetic intrusions.

As for people, well there are no people up there. You'd be more likely to see a moose in Starbucks!

The NYT: great parrot-cage liner. But then you've got an obnoxious parrot on your hands!

Question, How much of our imported oil [% wise] could we produce ourselves if we opened Anwar, the pacific coast, the gulf coast and uncapped southern fields in the conus ? Could it be done by Exec order, and if so, would it realistically be a way to force opec to lower prices ???

Seems to be a great short term solution, with long term benefits...

"...where an intact expanse of arctic and sub arctic lands remains protected."

Uh...an intact expanse of barren snow and ice? That should be the end of the argument right there. I just paid $2.09 a gallon this morning, so DRILL!

Help us fund an emergency ad campaign to make sure they know how strongly the people they represent feel about protecting the Arctic. Please make an emergency donation right now.

Dig into that campaign war chest of yours! Not one damn dime till you exhaust your own resources!

I know that a congressional delegation DID got there recently so that they could see exactly how small of an area would be needed, and also how desolate of an area that is frozen tundra like 10 months of the year---

Yes, they did, and the Democrats backed out at the last minute, so the delegation was all Republicans.

I hope they drill and drain it dry. The sooner the better.

the people of Alaska

We favor developing as much oil and gas as possible and right now. Four to one or five to one. Two generations have grown up and moved away waiting for the gas pipeline.

The gas pipeline could have been built alongside the TransAlaska oil pipeline for nothing at the time 30 years ago. Now it is an independent $20 billion project.

An area that is frozen tundra.

WAIT! STOP THE PRESSES!! I JUST FIGURED OUT WHY KERRY IS SO OPPOSED TO DRILLING IN ANWR.

When he read about the "frozen tundra" he assumed the drilling would take place . . . in "Lambert" Field!!

Yeah, I think the dems motto is "ignorance is bliss"--as long as they don't SEE things, they can lie, lie, lie and believe that everything is okay---

just like the war in Iraq, as long as Kennedy and them don't go to Iraq and see the GOOD things that have happened, they can lie, and lie about the quagmire!

I posted on another thread the other day that it I thought the US could get a few barrels of oil out of my yard, I would say GO AHEAD AND DRILL!

I want to see Kerry and every dem drive their SUVs and trucks, and travel trailers, and private planes up to Washington, park them, and hand over the keys before they say one more word about Bush's energy policy!!!
