Our current "good intentions" are doing what's good for *us*. How can I explain this? It's like a constructive business relationship, where the best deals lean towards win/win.
True, some of the folks in Lebanon are Christian but this IS Huge as you state. It's about as eye grabbing as Palestinians denouncing the bombing against Israeli's a few week's ago. Fury is being unleashed on Syria, not Isreal, for the first time in my memory.
I didn't mean to imply that we aren't doing what is best for us. Pres. Bush has been very clear that what he's doing is what he thinks is in America's best interests.
But we could also be safe - for a time at least - by oppressing others. We could have occupied Afghanistan. We could have occupied Iraq and taken their oil. But that's not what we do.
