My eldest son put his arm through a plate glass window a few years back, severing an artery, a tendon and the median nerve to his right hand. Thankfully, there were EMTs nearby, and they kept him from bleeding out. It was a close-run thing. I understand the terror you must have experienced today, and my heart goes out to you.
You'll have some rough days ahead, but the docs are pretty darned good these days at setting things back aright.
