Why on earth does this man deserve or require yet another trial?
No doubt there was a better way to convey whatever the point.
i agree. his right to a "speedy" trial should take effect though. it is unfortunate that this will take months at the very least when he should be sentenced by the end of the week at the latest.
Well, maybe the point is that his murder spree was a freebie, since he is right back in the same position he was when he started it.
Did you see the pictures of him being taken into custody after his surrender? Walking tall. Very pleased with himself. The years long charade ahead of him is punishing whom?
One has the same feeling about him as a terrorist on trial. He has crossed over into a realm where conventions of law mean nothing. He is, in his own mind and by appearance, a Gulliver captive by the Lilliputians.
I have already seen it pointed out that the "problem" is that the deputy had a gun. The whole thing reminds me a lot of Demolition Man.

I agree. JB was doing quite well with his presentation, up to that very odd rhetorical question. Possibly.......just to give JB the benefit of the doubt here, he was talking about another trial on the rape/sodomy charges? If not, then he's implying that for certain types of "LIVE ON TV" crimes, the perps should be dealt with as they are in stalinesque dictatorships; - and for a person as vocally devoted to the Constitution as is JB Williams, this was a weird, off-beat part of his column. Incomprehensible, in fact.
Thanks for pointing it out.
