Democrats say they are confident they are winning the political battle against President Bush's idea to incorporate private accounts into Social Security, and they will continue their campaign to make sure the president won't again outmaneuver them....
Political strategist Dick Morris, who helped engineer Bill Clinton's two presidential wins, said Democrats "can win this just by being opposed. They don't have to have a plan of their own," Mr. Morris said. "It's the beauty of being in the opposition and having been so totally defeated [in the past several elections]. Nobody expects them to have a plan."

BWAHAHAHAHA!!
I question your baseball bona fides! Pitchers don't have batting averages!
The Dems have no plan, other than fraud and obstruction. Sure worked for Daschle, didn't it Harry?
Wait a few weeks and Morris'll write a column saying the President will beat the Dims on SS.
He engineered Clinton's '96 win and so we can't completely overlook his instincts, but he sure focuses on the trivial and the poll-driven issues. He lives his entire life by polls, never seeming to take into account the bias of those doing them! Amazing, for a political consultant!
They do in the National League.
Today, Social Security is the worst investment one can make with their money.
While it's possible the Republicans may lose the battle, I wouldn't bet too heavily against President Bush.
I agree, two Clinton wins makes it worthwhile to listen to him. However I don't know if he realizes just how far off the edge the democrats have gone.
I agree! I would much rather have Dick at my side, then behind me!!! ;>
Tell that to Don Drysdale. Pitchers have at bats, at least in the National League, and therefore they have batting averages. Generally south of the Mendoza line. Hence, great odds for the President.
LOL! You got me there. I think the poster was just mixing his semaphores though and that was my point.
The Social Security issue will be no different.
>"He engineered Clinton's '96 win"
Actually, no. Bob Dole and the machine that selected him engineered Clinton's '96 win. Only thing worse in recent times was the '98 congressional campaign.
Hey anybody could have beaten Bob Dolt, one of the worst canditates the pubbies ever tried..
At every opportunity POTUS Bush should say that the reason the Dems are against personal accounts is because every dollar in your account is a dollar they can't get their hands on. He should then say that greedy politicians are the reason so-security is in trouble in the first place, and then he can finish by telling the people that a Dems idea of "fixing' SS is to raise taxes and the retirement age like they have 17 times in the past.
Brilliant point re: Dole. What a death march that campaign was. The significant majority of registered democrats didn't hurt Clinton in '96, either. My experience is that only political neophytes think Morris has any chops.
The dems sure love Dick!
