President Bush's Campaign Chief Explores Run For Governor
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | March 12, 2005 | Associated Press

Posted on 03/12/2005 3:40:32 PM PST by VAGirlieGirl

Los Angeles financier Gerry Parsky, who coordinated President's Bush's 2004 presidential campaign in California and chairs the University of California Board of Regents, said he is exploring a run for governor next year if Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger decides not to run. In a statement released Friday, Parsky insisted his focus remains on the UC system, but said, "Should either President Bush or Gov. Schwarzenegger call upon me to consider additional public service in another capacity, I would seriously consider the honor." Parsky's announcement represented an early sign of alternative candidates should the Schwarzenegger decide to return to the private sector or mount a campaign for the U.S. Senate next year. Schwarzenegger, elected in the October 2003 recall contest against former Gov. Gray Davis, has not commented on whether he will run again. Last November, he told CNN talk show host Larry King he would decide this spring. Parsky has close ties to the White House, but he is unpopular in some segments of the state's Republican party after testifying against Schwarzenegger's plan to privatize public employee pension systems. He's also an untested candidate in statewide elections. Parsky adviser and state Republican activist Dora Kingsley said Friday she was certain that if Parsky becomes a candidate, he "would have the resources necessary to be successful." Parsky, a multimillionaire, chairs Aurora Capital, a Los Angeles-based investment firm. Kingsley recently traveled to Washington D.C., where she floated the idea of a Parsky candidacy to congressional and media representatives. But the party activist also noted that the Republican nomination for governor belongs solely to Schwarzenegger, and said she supports him "as long as the governor chooses to lead." Schwarzenegger spokesman Rob Stutzman declined comment Friday on a possible Parsky candidacy.

>>Arnold may not be perfect, but he'll be a far, far better Senator than Feinstein...and she can't beat him in 2006.

And Lenin was better than Stalin. I prefer to acknowledge there are more than two choices.

Please tell me what you are talking about. My history is a little weak.

Republican with family roots in this party going back to the Tory & Free Soil Days.

The Torys & the Free Soil folks were predecessors to the Republican party as organized by Abraham Lincoln. Torys & Free Soil folks (like John Quincy Adams) were the leaders of the Abolitionist movement, and are generally known as the first Strict Constructionists around...

I have not stated that I agree with all of Mr. Parsky's positions, I simply believe that if President Bush trusts him & his judgement - that perhaps out loyalty should be to the President rather than attacking Parsky for matters that were never under his control.

And you say that after having had Parsky's perfidy against conservatives in California explained to you in detail. There's more too. He didn't allot a dime to McClintock's campaign or he would be controller now.

Yup, you got spanked, so you go and pull off another thread higher on the side bar so that you can get away with the same line and see how far it will go. We've seen all this before, many times. You are sounding more and more like yet another paid shill running trial balloons on FR.

You noticed.

It's early spring. It's the traditional time for California golden poppies to bloom and for Republican loyalists to spam the forum. Soon the snow will melt in the midwest and Tamsey will be back.

Ain't it grand.

My guess is about twenty grand, at most, one of those "work at home" jobs (Parsky didn't make all that money by profligacy).

At least she coulda taken "FareOpinion" or something. They could exhibit a sense of humor given the creaming they're gonna get; I mean, can you imagine a more thankless task cheerleading for Gerry Parsky?

Soon the snow will melt in the midwest and Tamsey will be back.

Please, it was looking like such a nice day.

To Mr. Creel, and all others so against Gerry Parsy:

My religious beliefs are not what this discussion are about however - the Bible also says "Judge ye not." And I'll trust in my daily devotionals, and my Pastor's teachings.

And I am but one voice. You all seem to be quite hysterical at the mention of Parsky. Its homorous that just one man is capable of drawing all this negativity. Perhaps your friends at Command Focus, and those working for the trial lawyer Shawn Steel running the Parsky Watches are concerned that they can't get a single positive article placed. Or perhaps its the fact that the Quackenbush crew hears the wheels of justice turning again? Perhaps you all have nothing to do but wish you were as relevant as Parsky, since he got great ink at the very HINT of running for office.

As for whether or not I work for Parsky - I don't - but if he does run for office, I'll be hoping for a gig. Because California deserves more than we are getting. A Governor has a fiduciary responsibility to work with the Congressional Delegation to secure federal funding. A Governor should hire policy staff not from the press shop - but people who are actually qualified. I don't care who they are just some with some institutional knowledge. And the Governor bares responsibility for not gaining a SINGLE seat in the legislature in November 2004.

"to secure federal funding"

I'm one of the most vocal critics of Schwarzenegger on this forum, but his not milking the federal teat has NOT been one of my criticisms. I'm waiting to see what his four ballot measures really look like to see if I can support at least those.

But your ridiculous pissant Parsky, the ignorant Wilson appointee to the UC bored, is somebody I couldn't recommend anyone spit on the best part of... There! How's that for sentence structure?

Ooops! Your little Freudian slip is showing GirlieGirl!!! He certainly is a parser, alright!

Parsy, Parsy, he's her man... If Davis could do it, Parsy sure can! (NOT!!!)

Flattery will get you nowhere. Neither will Parsky's money.

Its homorous that just one man is capable of drawing all this negativity.

As ye sow...

Perhaps your friends at Command Focus, and those working for the trial lawyer Shawn Steel running the Parsky Watches are concerned that they can't get a single positive article placed.

I have no clue what you are babbling about, but your professional entanglements are becoming MUCH more clear. Who is "Command Focus" (really, I don't know)?

Or perhaps its the fact that the Quackenbush crew hears the wheels of justice turning again?

Corruption taints the whole party. Interestingly, it's nearly always "social moderates" who find themselves so ensnared. I am against it whether it is Wilson, Davis, or for that matter, Arnold, as you would know very well if you had been here very long (which you haven't).

Perhaps you all have nothing to do but wish you were as relevant as Parsky, since he got great ink at the very HINT of running for office.

Here's a hint, "great ink" from the newsmediots means he's a socialist.

Newspapers sell their ability to control voter opinion. As long as government is too small to control the market, voter opinion doesn't count for as much, but when government CAN control who makes money and public opinion (as opposed to constitutionally protected property rights for example) controls government, then those who control public opinion have something to sell. As for "nothing to do," you couldn't be more wrong.

Because California deserves more than we are getting.

Well there we agree, but I don't think we would be talking about what it should get. You are thinking of tax revenue that comes from US. What it should get is limited government and the blessings of liberty, something for which Parsky neither stands nor understands. He wants liberty only for those who can afford the payoff.

A Governor should hire policy staff not from the press shop - but people who are actually qualified. I don't care who they are just some with some institutional knowledge.

This is a VERY interesting list. Just what do you call, "institutional knowledge"? Is it knowing how to kowtow to "the right people"? Hmmm?

And the Governor bares responsibility for not gaining a SINGLE seat in the legislature in November 2004.

Give me a break. We all know why that is, and it has little to do with the governor and everything to do with gerrymandering and/or a slate of lame candidates (because the Party does NOTHING for the grass roots). Besides, Arnold was too busy pitching new debt to help legislators get elected. He knows who is in power.

Oh, and could you please tell us how Mr. Parsky voted on the Board of Regents' approval of Denise Dee Denton as chancellor of the University ofCalifornia, Santa Cruz (Ms. Denton has the distinction of being a highly visible critic of Larry Summers at Harvard)?

Ms. Denton was awarded a $275,000 salary. A "special" $200,000 job (with free housing) was created for her live in girlfriend as part of the "incentives." This in a year when US Santa Cruz endured $14 million in budget cuts.

Do you approve of such? Gerry Parsky apparently does.

There once was a RINO named Parsky
Who, by Rove, sold the soul of the party
Now he wants to be Guv
But he's not so beloved
And conservatives know it's a farce-ski!

So, the fact that Schwarzenegger has cost the state more than a BILLION DOLLARS if fines to the feds... gimme a break. For goodness sake - California is behind ARKANSAS and MISSISSIPPI in taking care of child support. Its absurd!

From The Sacramento Bee - - -
Nearly two decades after the federal government first required states to build centralized computer systems for collecting child support, California is one of only three states that still have not succeeded. The failure to put the state's 1.8 million child-support cases in a single database likely will cost California taxpayers more than $1 billion in federal fines on top of the hundreds of millions of dollars that have been spent developing the system. After scrapping a $111 million effort and failing to win federal approval for a second approach, state officials now say they are on track to establish a third system - and end the hefty federal fines - by September 2006. The project should be complete, they say, by 2008.

(snip)

Your major criticism of Arnold is he isn't collecting enough child support money? LOL.
IMO, there are many much more egregious things to highlight.

FYI, by posting the full article from the Sac Bee, you violated FR's excerpting requirements (and the SacBee's copyright). A link to the full article is usually adequate.

That's the leftists' favorite Bible verse. It is use to squash all legitimate criticism.

Read the part about removing the plank from your eye.

Then read John 7:24 - Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Parsky's record speaks for itself. But Parsky's trial balloon will go nowhere. He has no serious name recognition, and those that know him do not respect him.

Embittered activists? Naw. Just a group of people who want Republicans to start winning again in this state, unlike Parsky, the poison pill of California politics who has LOSER written all over him. If Parsky had his way, Gray Davis would still be governor.
