I read the book in the seventies so I get to plead Alzheimer's.

Any thoughts on the reference to the Night of the Long Knives in Inside the Third Reich? Given that you are more recently familiar with the material.

To be honest,I haven't read the book cover to cover. It's in my father's library, so when I visit my parents it's one of the books I read when trying to go to sleep. I liked "The Rise and Fall.., but apparently historians don't think much of it.
