Well, as far as I am concerned she will never receive my vote. Personally, I wince everytime I hear the terms "pro-choice" and "pro-life." No matter what word games a person choses to play. You are either for abortion or against it, or you are just plain confused.

I am anti-abortion. I consider abortion to be infanticide. No one should ever have the "choice" to legally comment infanticide. So, even though she is OK as Sec State. She can forget being the Republican nominee. Also, I find myself getting really ticked at President Bush setting her up to run for president.

One final zinger - even remotely suggesting she holds "libertarian" views makes her obnoxious to me. There are two groups on this forum that I just can't abide - hard core atheistic/naturalistic evolutionists and libertarians.

Sounds to me like she wants it to be regulated by the states?

If Roe V.Wade is ever overturned...isn't that what will happen?

So much for Congo Lisa! We've had all the pro death presidents that we can handle.

I would prefer that a democrat presidential candidate win the election than for the Republican party to ever be led by someone even "mildly" pro-abortion.

I certainly won't vote for Rice in a Republican primary, and I will vote independent in 2008 if she is the nominee. I don't see the "there" there in her "candidacy" that others do. But she could wind up the nominee. Why? Republicans hate being called "racist" or "sexist." And they think Rice would make them immune to such "charges." The GOP needs a backbone transplant.

If Condi Rice was a white guy, there would be little hype whatsoever about her for president. The only two Secretary of States in recent memory to have any presidential hype are Colin Powell and Henry Kissinger. I never heard even James Baker hyped for president. In fact, there hasn't been a secretary of state elected president since James Buchanan. To go even further, Rice has never run for any elected office. She's an unknown campaigner. Can she related to the non diplomatic world? Can she handle 24/7 scrutiny? I don't know. No one does.

I'd like to know what makes Condi Rice qualified to be president. I'd like to know her stances on domestic issues. DEFECIT SPENDING, Taxes, 2nd Amendment(I've heard good there, although 2ndhand), jobs, life, trade, the UN, judges, border security, and the size of government.

Domestic issues come first with me.

Rice gave her most detailed explanation of a 'mildly pro-choice' stance on abortion, she would not want the government 'forcing its views' on abortion... She explained that she is libertarian on the issue, adding: 'I have been concerned about a government role'... >>>

So is Colon Powell, that's why I would never vote for the pro-abortion republicans, I don't care who they are. Powell and Rice are social liberals...I like the way ms. rice uses the lame excuse that she's libertarian...Seems abortion is the only subject about which she is libertarian,,,my how convenient and full of it...

She should go back to playing the piano and teaching in a nice liberal college.

Kinda like being "mildly" pregnant, you either are or you are not.

"Mildly pro-choice" is that anything like being "a little pregnant?"

Ms Rice's true colors are beginning to show, and I hope some here open their eyes.
She's little different than her predecessor at State.

And I don't mean that in a good way.

I don't like it, any better than I like her endorsing LOST; but when the chips are down...We could either have a gung-ho pro-death Hillary (and all else she would do as president) or we can have a mildly pro-death candidate.

Think about that. President Hillary Clinton. She would do grievous harm to America as president, if we all refused to vote for Condi Rice.

I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me Hillary or give me Darth---is not a decision I can afford to avoid.

I'm an ex-libertarian, & I've got to say that you will just hafta deal w/ us. TOO BAD if you don't like us, 'cuz we're not goin away. There IS a pro-life faction w/in the libertarian movement, & one of them has a website called Libertarians for Life (I love their logo!):

http://www.l4l.org

& it disappoints me when I hear everyone say that all libertarians support abourtion. I strongly agree w/ you that abortion is murder (I wouldn't use the word "infanticide", but I do believe that it IS murder).

The member of Congress that I admire the most, Rep. RON PAUL (R-TX) is strongly pro-life; & as a matter of fact, as a medical doctor, he has delievered 4.00 babies! Please don't paint libertarians w/ such a broad brush.

I think we are overrating Hillary Clinton. No one in the red states will vote for her no matter what "centrist" positions she takes. Her mask is thin. What we should be worrying about is an unknown. Someone like Mark Warner or Evean Bayh. Someone like that can squeak right under our noses.

Here's the deal, as far as the RINOs go, the folks who will vote for anyone with an (R) listed after their name on the ticket, this debate is pointless.

Their vote is A LOCK. They don't matter. The debate can be for the "heart and soul" party, but they are not it. "They" vote for the person with the (R) after the name, remember?

It is vitally important that we let the party leadership know we will not support a wishy-washy candidate. The Republican platform, no matter what nonsense posted here, has always been pro-life. We can't let this one slip under the rug. If we do, and the Republican party walks away from a firm stance on this life or death issue--then who will stand for the rights of the *living* unborn?

Let those who will vote for anyone because of their label go on and do whatever you can *count* on them to do. Those who are principled, however, must let their voices be heard.

I'll wait until I hear what she really said.

But, she can't win the election. The Bubbas will never vote for a woman or a person of color. Sorry, it won't happen and until it does, it's a losing proposition.

That's the political reality. Run a white male from the South or you will lose. So, find one who meets our needs and be done with it.

Taller than 6 foot.
Good Hair.
Governor.
Not a Senator.
White.
Male.
Lawyer or Doctor.
Married.
Less than 3 children.
Religious.
Pro-2nd Amendment.

If you don't meet those qualifications, don't apply. Just the reality of the situation. Anything else, and you are just pissing your money and time away.
